Rohit’s 85 & Aditya Khanvilkar’s all-round show steers Police Gymkhana Center to a win in the U23 Madhav Mantri Tournament’19
DY Patil opting to bat first Western Railway Ground in Mahalaxmi were all out for 200 runs in 53.5 overs in their 1st innings. Left-handed opener Sangram Bhalekar top scored hitting 89 runs of 151 balls while the rest of the batsman struggled. From the bowlers, off-spinner Shubham Taldeokar with 4/25 in 10.5 overs was the pick of the bowlers. Police Gymkhana in reply were all out for 212 runs with middle order batsman Rohit Desai fighting it out with a gritty 85* off 142 balls.
DY Patil trailing 12 runs in their 2nd innings again were found to be struggling getting bundled out for 159 runs. Leg break bowler Aditya Khanvilkar came up with a crucial spell taking 5/29 in 10 overs with 2 maidens. The all-rounder received good support from Shubham who took 2 wkts while took his tally of wickets to 6wkts in the match.
Chasing a modest 150 runs, Police Gymkhana batters chipped in with starts while all-rounder Aditya Khanvilkar played the finishing role scoring 42* off just 39 balls at no.6 as U23 Police Gymhana Center won the match by 5 wkts.
Aditya has been performing consistently at the local level where in he took 10 wkts in Shalini Bhalekar Tournament, 10 wkts in last year’s Madhav Mantri. He also took a stunning 6 wkt haul in mere 4 overs in the Inter Collegiate Match while scored 71* vs Ahmedabad in the Redbull Zonat Match. Looking at his all-round consistency, aditya is certainly one player to look out for in the coming years.
