Orange Spartans win Jolly Premier League 2015

The season 5 of the Jolly Premier League 2015 had already kicked off last week and the teams met yet again to play the league and final matches. What added the spice to the tournament was the lush green ground surrounded by various trees, railway, and of course the gymkhana on one side. If this was not enough, it was telecast LIVE in Rajesh Hathway Cable across Mumbai. 5 matches were played to decide the semi finals spot to be played on April 12th and also the finals on the same day.

Final Match Report

Akash Seth’s brilliant knock of 35 from just 23 balls set the tone of the match as Orange Spartans defeated Sanghavi XI in the final of Jolly Premier League held at Ghatkopar Jolly Gymkhana. He was fittingly adjudged man of the match for his match winning knock that included 6 hits to the fence.

Sanghavi XI won the toss and chose to bat first in 10 overs a side contest. Batsmen are generally not expected to settle in an innings of just 60 balls. Only 2 batsmen made major contributions in Sanghavi’s innings as they scored 87 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Opener Nishank scored 29 off 21 balls with 2 fours and a six and kept the scoreboard ticking. But it was no. 3 Aditya who really took the charge as he hammered Spartans bowlers for 41 runs in just 20 balls with 3 hits over the boundary rope. The nest highest contribution was of extras that amounted to 10. Rest of the batting just fell like nine pins. Spartans bowler Jitesh grabbed 3 wickets giving away just 5 runs in his quota of 2 overs. Excellent figures by T-10 standrards.

The target of 88 was very much achievable and opener Akash showed the way with 35. Niraj and Kishan scored 16 each as Orange Spartans overhauled the target in the last over with 4 wickets and 4 balls to spare. Sanghavi bowler Jinesh picked up 2 wickets but could not prevent his team from losing the game and the trophy.
