Opener Vinayak scores a gutsy 73 while Sunny Yadav’s 5/20 steers Gyan Kendra School to a win in the Giles Shield ‘17
Giles shield since many years has been a perfect platform for young talented kids to display their perfomance and over the years it has turned out to be a breeding ground for the youngsters. In fact these are the tournaments where the perfomance of the kids gets polished and refined for a great future in cricket.
The recent match of Giles Shield was at Matunga Gymkhana where in Gyan Kendra School won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, they notched up a decent score of 216 all out in 45 overs. Right handed opener Vinayak Yadav top scored with a solid looking 73 off 125balls which somewhat solidified the innings. Nishant Singh and Sunny Yadav also chipped in with 32 & 27 respectively.
Raahil Mehta from Utpal Sangvi was terrific with the ball as he looked really dangerous and troubled the batsman. Raahil was the pick of the bowlers as he took an impressive 5wkt haul in the match.
Chasing 217 is not the toughest of tasks but good bowling by Gyan Kendra restricted Utpal Sanghvi Global School to just 53runs. Left arm medium pacer Sunny Yadav simply stunning with the ball as he came up with match winning bowing figures of 5/20 in 8 overs. India already has a shortage of genuine left arm pacers and watching such a young prodigy bowl so well feels good to watch. Gyan Kendra School won the match by a big margin of 163 runs and these two young boys vinayak and sunny definitely stood out.
