Played at the GD Lancer ground at Uttam Nagar, something unreal occurred. Somehting which happens very less often in T20’s. We have seen Gayle and Mccullum tearing apart bowlers in IPL and international T20’s but we hardly come across a player at the local grassroot level with the ability to thrash bowlers at will. Played between New South West XI and Royal Tigers, it was NSW who won the toss and elected to bat first since the wicket looked promising enough to bat on.

Royal Tigers were hardly aware about the havoc which was about to storm them as right handed opener Deepanshu Phire created a magical cricketing environment with his firecracker batting. Opener Deepanshu scored a stunning 204 off mere 69deliveries in a T20 match. Yes you heard it right! Phore scored his hundred on an average off just 34.5balls each and that is simply staggering. Deepanshu spared hardly any bowler as he showed them nightmares in daylight to the bowlers. Deepanshu smashed 21fours and as many as 15sixes in his 69ball stay at the crease which took the team total to a mammoth 319/5 in 20 overs.

Royal Tigers Delhi must have felt the pressure of chasing as they were restricted to just 119/all out. Jeetu was the only batsman who looked good with his 62 off 41balls. Leg-spinner Sachin Kushwaha was the pick of the bowlers as he took 4/26 in 3.1 overs while Adarsh Sharma also chipped in with 3wkts. New South West won the match by a record margin of 200runs and Deepanshu was rightly adjudged ‘man of the match’
