Mumbai Police Cityriders win while Imtiyar’s stunning fifer ends in a losing cause in the Day 9 of the Mitsui Shoji T20 League
It was the only match played on Day 9 between Thane Marathas & Mumbai Police Cityriders & as and when the tournament is reaching its twilight, it’s getting more and more intense. Played at the police Gymkhana ground, Mumbai Police Cityriders won the toss & elected to bat first.
However, Mumbai Police boys were not aware of the trouble they were going to face by the excellent bowling of Thane Marathas & especially their pace bowler Imtiyar Ahmed who also plays Ranji representing U.P. Mumbai Police Cityriders managed to score 112/8 in 20 overs & the bowler who gave some really tough time to the batsman was Thane’s pace bowler Imtiyaz Ahmed who came up with great bowling figures of 5/15 in 3 overs. The top 2 & the last 3 wicktes of Mumbai Police went in the name of Imtiyar as the Mumbai batsman were not able to score freely because of his tight length and pace. The rest of the bowlers also bowled well but could have bowled a little tighter to restrict Mumbai to below 100 runs.
As we mentioned, Imtiyar lacked strong support from the other end & had they restricted them to something around 100, the match could have been in their favor. Eventually, Thane Marathas lost the game chasing as they managed to score 105/7 in 12 overs losing the match by just 8runs. More than the good bowling by Mumbai Police, it was the lack of co-ordination among the thane batsman as there were not 1, not 2 but as many as 5 run outs which turned the game in Mumbai’s favor.
Mumbai Police Cityriders win the match by 7runs while Imtiyar Ahmed’s superb bowling efforts made him earn the ‘man of the match’ award. The tournament is certainly getting intense & it will be great to see which teams end up reaching the finals & lift the trophy.
