Khizar Dafedar’s brilliant 220 against BPCL helps Indian Oil win the match in the Times Cricket Shield
It was a match between two powerful teams namely BPCL and Indian Oil in the Times Cricket Shield. BPCL had won the toss elected to bat first with an aim of giving a huge trail to Indian Oil.
BPCL did a fairly good job with the bat in the 1st innings making 357/10 in 100.1 overs. Left-handed Abhishek Nayar who has played for India as well as lots of first class cricket made his presence felt with a brilliant 129*. Akash Parkar with 89 and Vinit Indulkar with 69 were the other two who played well for BPCL. Right arm leg spinner Khizar Dafedar was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/52 followed by 3/79 & 3/92 by Murtaza Hussain and Rohan Raje.
In return, Indian Oil gave a fitting reply as they managed to score a mammoth 481/9 declare in 136 overs. All-rounder Khizar Dafedar who showed his abilities with the ball also played a sensational knock of 220 which changed the game’s fortunes in their favor. Khizar was outright confident against all the bowlers and it was because of him Indian Oil managed to reach such a big score of 481. Paresh Patel and Rohan Raje also played important knocks of 89 & 51* at the middle order which further steadied the ship. From BPCL, Prathamesh Dake was the only bowler who looked good enough to give some trouble as he scalped 4 wickets for just 80 runs.
Indian Oil who declared their innings as the play got over on 3rd day won the match on ‘1st Innings’ and all-rounder Khizar Dafedar was adjudged ‘Man of the match’ for his brilliant double century and also taking 3 wickets.
