Jay Dhatrak & Aayush Iyer help Sulonia Academy win the Quarter-finals of the Kalyan Premier League
It was the nerve holding quarter finals between two competitive sides at Santosh Sports Cricket Academy, Ground, Kalyan, Thane between Sulonia Cricket Academy Thane Team & Santosh Sports Academy Team. Winning the toss, Sulonia cricket academy elected to bat first as they have a strong batting line up which can capitalize on the pitch conditions and post a big total on the board.
Right handed opening batsman Jay Dhatrak gave a blazing start scoring a magnificent 89 off just 66 balls. Jay displayed his hitting skills as well as his resilience on the crease as his knock was a perfect mixture of aggression and composure. Jay was so dominating with the bat that in one over he smashed 4 sixes against the leg spinner Aditya Paliwade. Coming at no.3 Tejas Chavan also did a good job with the bat scoring a solid 54 off just 47 balls (6 fours). Team Sulonia managed to reach a good total of 255/9 in 35 overs with Jash Ganinga the leading bowler for Santosh Academy with bowling figures of 4/28 in 6 overs. Jash bowled well & succeeded in giving important breakthroughs for his team.
Chasing 256, Santosh Sports Academy worked hard and managed to give a tough fight but eventually they managed to reach 191/7 in 35 overs. The openers Aditya Baliwada & Aadit Degaonkar gave a good start scoring 30 & 46 respectively followed by Jash Ganiga’s 34 ball 53 at no.3. The first three batsman played really well but the rest of the batsman could not capitalize on the start given by them and lost the quarter finals by 64 runs. Right arm leg spinner Aayush Iyer bowled a magnificent spell of 4/41 in 7 overs and also took important wickets when they were needed. Iyer was the star bowler and did his job to perfection.
While Jash Ganiga gave his best with the bat and the ball for Santosh Academy, it was the skipper of Sulonia Jay Dhatrak who was adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his dominating 89 and also a run out, Aayush iyer’s efforts were also worth appreciating and the whole team’s performance will surely make their coach Tushar Sir happy.
