Jain Irrigation Clinch Corporate Title
Mumbai, May 23: Jain Irrigation Cricket Club emerged champions defeating Automotive Cricket Club by 21 runs in the MCA Corporate Trophy ‘C’ Division final, played at the MCA Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana ground, Kandivali on Tuesday.
Deciding to bat first, Jain Irrigation CC managed to amass quite a challenging score of 165 runs for 8 wickets from their stipulated 20 overs. Later, the Jain Irrigation bowling attack picked up wickets at regular intervals to contain the Automotive CC batter and restrict them to 144 runs for the loss of nine wickets from their quota of 20 overs and secure the victory.
Jain Irrigation was well-served by left-handed middle-order batsman Kaushal Tambe who scored a 27-ball 44 runs with two boundaries and sixes each. His knock along with substantial contributions from number three bat Jay Jain 24 runs and number four bat Suved Parkar 37 runs (24-balls, 5×4) put the Jain Irrigation innings back on track and lifted the total. Automotive’s Santosh Chavan 3 for 24 and Aditya Rane 3 for 29 were their best bowlers.
Automotive CC struggled in the chase and they cheaply lost wickets and were unable to make a fight.
