It’s a TIE between R.C.C. and Mycroyance in the Kurukshetra Cup | Mumbai
It was a low scorer T20 thriller played between Mycroyance and R.C.C at Elphinstone Cricket Club pitch at Oval, Churchgate in the inaugural edition of the Kurukshetra Cup Season 1.
It ended up with a tie with both teams earning a point and solace of not losing a closely contested game with many twists and turns.
This was the first match of the first edition of the Kurukshetra Cup. This tournament is organized by Beyond Infinity, a company formed by 2 brothers, Piyush Rai (COO) and Devashish Rai (CEO), who are passionate about cricket.
Mycroyance chose to bat first. Their innings got off to a shaky start and they kept losing wickets regularly. It was fine knock by their last recognized batsman Rishikesh Kore batting left hand made big difference. Rishikesh played a sensible knock with the lower order batsman to take his team to a score for their bowlers to bowl at. Rishikesh scored 43 off 41 balls and helped Mycroyance reach 120 runs exhausting full quota of wickets and balls. The Shaikhs 6 wickets with Imran taking 3, Bilal 2 and Shadab 1 for RCC.
120 was a tricky chase on a tricky surface. Similar to the innings of Mycroyance, RCC too kept loosing wickets regularly but it was the steady partnership between Bilal Shaikh and Farooq Qureshi that took the game away from Mycroyance. But the run out of Bilal Shaikh in the last over by Aniket Karwarkar got the game in balance again. Aniket accounted for one more run out in the last over. Needing 3 to win on the last ball, Farooq could manage to get a brace and thus tie the score. Rishikesh Kore of Mycroyance was named MoM.
