One requires thought , vision , the will to work and implement the thoughts into action in order to achieve what we want to. Yes it began 3 years ago for S.B.S.C (Saifee Burhani Sports Club Cricket Tournament ) wherein the idea and the intention was to bring the entire Dawoodi Bohra Community under one roof. S.B.S.C were in search of the way as to how they could bring the entire community together. Along with it wanted to contribute towards health and fitness of individuals as their prime motto, decided that the game of Cricket was one of the very best option for them. The first step was taken and in the first edition had 16 teams participating from various parts of Mumbai. Growing further in the second edition last year 20 teams participated.
The third edition of SBT – T10 cricket event was held recently from December 1st to December 7th 2014. This time too 20 teams had participated.
After the initial league matches it was the 2 finalist teams (Husami Mohalla and Bhayander) who met on December 7th, 2014 at Police Gymkhana.Mumbai.
Bhayander won the toss and elected to bat and managed 73 runs for loss of 8 wickets in their 10 overs with stand alone performance from Aziz kanchwala scoring 25 runs (4 Boundaries).Husami saria took 2 wickets for Husami.
It was not all that a challenging total but competitive enough. A great start is almost half the job done and that was achieved by the Husami openers Huzefa Saria 22 runs and Aziz Rampurwala 17 runs who put on 54 runs for the opening wicket.
Despite the opening stand was broken, the Bhayender bowlers sprayed all over the place conceding 20 wides, which did not help their cause. Husami Mohalla held on to their nerves and crossed the target losing only 3 wickets and with 2 balls to spare.
The match almost went till the end much to the expectations of all and another glorious chapter was written in SBT T10 cricket event.
The best Bowler of the tournament was Ali Asghar Electricwala of Dawoodi Mohalla, Best Batsman was Fakhrudiin Tarwala of Moffadal Mohala and Best Allrounder was Mosafa Sarin of Husami Mohalla, Man of the Finals Hussain Saria.
Speaking to one of the key organisors, Mr. Taher Kapasi, who said the successful completion of the 3 editions of the event has raised their spirits and have laid the foundation for the tournament to grow much bigger in the next year with teams from Rest of India and from Outside India likely to participate. Already plans are being worked out for the same. Hats off to the entire S.B.S.C team for bringing the event to this level and next year could see the event going better and bigger. One and all are waiting for the same. Good Luck S.B.S.C.
