Historic! Tomar Cricket Academy scores a record 958/8 with Mayank Pal(342*) and Simant Rawat(281*) winning hearts
Remember that Historic test between India and Sri Lanka in 1997 at the R Premdasa Stadium in Colombo? Yes the same match where the then power Lankans posted the highest ever total in Test history amassing 952runs in a single innings for the loss of 6wkts with the dangerous Jayasuriya smashing 340 along with 2nd innings craftsmen Roshan Mahanama hitting 225 off a record 561 deliveries. A 576run stand between them was also a record etched forever!
Well a similar story happened at the local level in Delhi cricket where in Tomar Cricket Academy headed by Sanjay Tomar took on the New Heroes Club where in Tomar Cricket Academy won the toss and elected to bat first. Little did they knew that this will be a day which will bring them in news all over as they amassed a 1st innings team total of 958/8dec in 155overs batting first. Simant Rawat opening the innings went on to score a breath taking 281 off mere 273balls smashing 46fours and 2sixes. Though he got good support but that was not the end of the show. Talented Mayank Pal who came at no.4 took the breath away as he was solid as a war tank completely indestructible smashing a mammoth 342* off 355balls laced with 60fours and 3sixes. What’s more! Mayank also stitched a 500+ runs stand for 4th wicket with Simant which took the game away from New Heroes. If you think that was it, still hold on your seatbelts as Devashish who came at no.8 gave the finishing touch with a timely 192 off 219balls while stitching another 8th wicket partnership of around 180 runs which took Tomar Cricket Academy to one of the highest totals registered in Delhi Local Cricket. None of the bowlers could ruffle the feathers of Mayank as he kept on batting till the end covering every corner of the ground with grace while Simant and Devashish were equally impressive.
New Heroes Club in return were 63/3 before the one-off Friendship Test series ended in a draw. This has to be one of the highlight matches of2018 with a superlative unbeaten triple ton by Mayank Pal (342*) followed by excellent batting by Simant Rawat (281) and Devashish (192).
Credit also goes to coach Sanjay Tomar and his academy where he guides and works hard on players to extract the best perfomances out of them.
