Harsh Gharsun’s century powers mTNL Mumbai to a win in MCA Coporate Trophy’22

On March 25, MTNL Mumbai locked horns against Saraswant Bank Kala Krida Mandal during the MCA Corporate Trophy tournament. Saraswat Bank Kala Krida Mandal won the toss and elected to bowl first.

MTNL Mumbai posted a competitive score of 6-227 in 40 overs. The opening pair of Sanket Paralkar (33 runs off 40 balls) and Harsh Gharsun stitched a 62-run partnership. The opening stand  set the base for MTNL Mumbai. After Paralkar departed, Durgesh Deorukhkar (61 runs off 62 balls) joined hands with Gharsun to put together 110 runs for the second wicket. Apart from the top three batters of MTNL Mumbai, there were no major contributions from the middle order. Gharsun top scored with a brilliant 100 off 111 balls, smashing eight boundaries. On the other hand, Aryan Agle and Nitesh Pawar were the wicket-takers for Saraswat Bank Kala Krida Mandla as they struck with 2-35 and 2-43 respectively.

In reply, Saraswat Bank Kala Krida Mandal fought hard as they scored 9-215 in 40 overs. Abhijit Kshirsagar (39), Darshan Patil (35), Veeraj Pawar (35) and Rahul Muthukrishanan (33) got off to starts but failed to capitalize. Apart from these batters, there were none, who contributed big with the bat. On the other hand, MTNL Mumbai’s Santosh Bhatkar wreaked havoc with the ball, as he picked up 4-35. The right arm off spinner bowled well in the middle overs and provided the team with the breakthroughs. 

Harsh Gharsun was the top performer of the match. Gharsun powered MTNL Mumbai to a 12-run win over Saraswat Bank Kala Krida Mandal during the MCA Corporate Trophy.

Cricket is a sport that Juili picked up right from her childhood days. Her journey from playing with the boys in the compound walls to practising under the able aegis of Jonty Rhodes has been a spectacular one.
She was a part of Mumbai Women’s U-19 and U-23 probables during her four-year stint at the MCA. As a middle order bat and a part time medium pace bowler, she also represented Mumbai University at All-India University Women’s Cricket for two years.

In the quest of further education, she discontinued with the sport. Currently she is pursuing her Ph.D in Finance from IIT Bombay’s School of Management.
