Ganiga and Jadhav score crucial as Rahul Sawant wins it for PJ Hindu Gymkhana
P.J. Hindu Gymkhana pipped Shivaji Park Gymkhana by 169 runs during the Young Comrade Shield. The match was played on December 17 and 18. P.J. Hindu Gymkhana won the toss and opted to bat.
Electing to bat first, P.J. Hindu Gymkhana made the most of the opportunity as they piled up a challenging total of 329/9 in 70 overs. Jash Ganiga top-scored with a brilliant 77 and Viraj Jadhav made a useful contribution of 70. Besides Ganiga and Jadhav, Yogesh Dongre (40), Rahul Sawant (37 not out), Blns Neyyoth (37) chipped in with the bat. On the other hand, Varun Joijode was the pick of the bowlers for Shivaji Park Gymkhana with 97/3.
In response, Shivaji Park Gymkahan succumbed to pressure and were bowled out cheaply for 160 in 52 overs. Mairaj Khan (42) and Parth Pathak (31) showed some resistance but could not take their team home. On the other hand, for P.J. Hindu Gymkhana, Rahul Sawant rattled the opposition with 55/6. Atharva Bhosale also had a good outing with the ball, claiming 41/3.
