Fast bowlers Harshal Soni and Anand Singh’s 5wkt hauls steers CCI to an easy win in the Purshottam Shield Tournament ‘17

The intense cricketing month of December has time and again witnessed great individual performances and some thrilling matches. Many teams have risen to the top and many players have emerged out as stars. In one of the recent matches between CCI and Fort Vijay CC at the PJ Hindu Gymkhana at Marine Lines, Harshal Soni & Anand Singh emerged out as star bowlers as they ran through the entire batting line-up of Fort Vijay.

Fort Vijay who batted first after winning the toss were bundled out for just 141runs where in not a single batsman managed to cross the 30run mark. Their batsman got starts but could not convert it into 50’s and 100’s. Fast bowlers Anand Singh & Harshal Soni wrecked havoc as both of them bowled in tandem to take 10wkts together. While Harshal took 5/44 in 11 overs(2maidens), Anand came up with equally stunning bowling figures of 5/21 in 8.2 overs(5maidens). Both the bowlers bowled at excellent line and length coupled with healthy pace to trouble the batsman which eventually reaped rewards not only for them but also for their team.

Chasing a modest total 142, CCI made it look quite easy as they chased down the score in mere 21.2 overs with the loss of just 3wkts. Opener Sachin Yadav (42 off 33b) and prolific Vinit Indulkar (46 off 62b) who came in at no.3 made sure the chase was taken care of with a quick 69run stand! CCI won the match by 7wkts where in Anand and Harshal defintately stood out in the match with their impressive bowling.
