Edifice clinches a memorable win against Punaesa XI in AT20
The Edifice Consultants made full use of a great batting pitch after winning the toss and putting themselves to score a mammoth total batting first & putting the opposition under pressure. The edifice openers had come up with plans in their mind to score as much as they can and make full use of the powerplay. Their strategy was to play aggressive cricket and make a big total & they rightly succeeded as they managed to score a mammoth 219/4 in 20 overs.
The credit must go to the onslaught and the confidence provided by the openers who played some really aggressive cricket especially their attacking opener Mahesh Hirpara who scored a feisty 83 off just 38 balls to literally take the game away from the opposition. He got decent support from his partner Koli who supported him with a 25 ball 29. Hirpara’s 38-ball knock included 12 fours and 4 sixes out of which his six of long on was his personal favorite apart from 3 sixes in the square leg region!
Requiring almost 11 runs per over, the pressure was quite visible on Punaesa XI & they lost early wickets because of which they could never settle themselves. Rohit Verma was unfortunate to get run out enroute his 29 ball 43 while Yogesh Dandawate & Shantanu joshi tried their best stitching an unbeaten partnership of over 70 runs. But that wasn’t enough as damage was already done by the Edifice bowlers and they won the match by 61 runs restricting Punaesa to 158/5.
Mahesh Hirpara who also chipped in with his handy medium pace took a wicket apart from his brilliant show with the bat which earned him man of the match award. As Mahesh himself stated, they won the AT20 Tournament last time and they are playing with the same fire & zest to win it this time too!
