DU Inter College: Zakhir Hussain (M) beats SSCBS by 89 runs; Himanshu Gulati hits 83
Zakhir Hussain College (M) defeated SSCBS comprehensively by 89 runs in their Inter College knockout match, played at Sri Venkateshwara College. ZHC won this match majorly due to some brilliant batting by their No. 2, 3 and 4 respectively. Himanshu, Kartik and Rohit all scored half centuries and enabled their team to post a total that was well beyond the reach of their opponents.
Batting first, ZHC posted a mammoth 290 runs on the board in just 40 overs. Himanshu top scored with 83 runs followed by Kartik (65) and Rohit Rana (62). There isn’t much to write about SSCBS bowling as all the bowlers went for plenty and were neither able to stop the flow of runs nor pick up wickets.
In reply, SSCBS were never really in the hunt at any point in their chase. The only shining factor was a fighting half century by Akash Ahuja (60). Himanshu Mehta remained unbeaten on 35 runs but consumed 64 balls and the match was well out of reach for his team.
