Venue: Rajdhani College

Knockouts.Groups – Semi-final. Both teams had reached this far after months of effort, crushing and knocking out their opponents. It was a test of grit. It was a test of character. Everybody knew their game. But this game’s outcome would decide who has an upper hand. Skill was never a problem. Temperament was. That’s where Aryabhatta boys edged out SGGSCC in an all-important encounter of DU Inter College.

To say it was a bowler’s show would not be an overstatement. Both teams were well balanced with excellent batting lineups and superb fielders. But what stood out as the difference between the two was their bowling. That being said, surprisingly enough the losing team registered two 5 wicket hauls in the same innings that ended in only 28.3 overs. That tells us the dominance of ball over the bat throughout the match

SGGSCC skipper Tushar won the toss and sent his opponents to bat first. Aryabhatta openers provided an excellent start to the innings with Himanshu Sharma scoring a whirlwind 31 from only 16 balls, clearing the fence thrice in the process. His partner Nitish top scored with 42 off 54 balls. But after both the openers lost their wickets, Aryabhatta kept losing wickets at regular intervals and folded for just 140 inside 29 overs. SGGSCC bowlers Krishna and Tushar shared the honors in bowling, capturing 5 wickets each.

Even though SGGSCC bowled out Aryabhatta, 140 were never going to be an easy chase against a strong bowling unit of Aryabhatta. It was the same Aryabhatta team that shot SSCBS out for 76 runs earlier in the tournament. This time they went a step ahead on the big occasion. Only three of SGGSCC batsmen were able to cross double digits as the innings folded for paltry 63 in 20 overs. ParthMadaan top scored with 20. It was a combined bowling effort with Yogesh and Shivank sharing 3 wickets each.

On one hand, its curtains for SGGSCC who played splendidly during the whole tournament, Aryabhatta have everything to play for in the grand finale scheduled later in the week.
