Chirag Modak’s Nine-Wicket Haul powers Ghatkopar Center U16 to a win in Kalpesh Govind Koli Memorial Tournament’22
NMSA Vashi U16 and Ghatkopar Center U16 clashed against each other on May 14 and 15 at Nerul Gymkhana. NMSA Vashi won the toss and elected to bat during the Kalpesh Govind Koli Memorial Tournament.
Batting first, NMSA Vashi were bowled out for a paltry 88 in 27.5 overs. Arya Gaikwad top scored with 22 runs off 35 balls. On the other hand, Ghatkopar Center’s Chirag Modak wreaked havoc with the ball and scalped 7-14 in nine overs. The left arm spinner bowled six maiden overs and spun the web around Vashi’s batters.
In reply, Ghatkopar Center posted 8-305 in 68.2 overs and took a handsome lead of 217 runs. Omkar Patankar starred with the bat scoring 76 runs off 88 balls. On the other hand, NMSA Vashi’s Arya Gaikwad was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3-88 in 19 overs.
Trailing by 217 runs, NMSA Vashi scored 188 in 64 overs and were bowled out in their second innings. Yash Jadhav (52) was the lone warrior in the fight. Ghatkopar Center’s Swaroop Rane bagged 4-43 in 13 overs and received good support from Chirag Modak. Picking up from where he had left in the first innings, Modak struck with 2-20 in 20 overs, including 14 maidens. In total, the left arm spinner accounted for 9-34 in 29 overs, including 20 maidens.
Chirag Modak was the top performer in the match. He picked up nine wickets and scored 24 not out off 77 balls. As a result, Ghatkopar Center beat NMSA Vashi by an innings and 29 runs.
