Ankit Vishwakarma stars in DMCC Sports Club’s win over Viva Super market in MCA Corporate Tournament ’22

On March 2, Viva Supermarket and DMCC Sports Club locked horns against each other at Sanath Sports Club in Mumbai during the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) Corporate Tournament. Viva Supermarket won the toss and elected to bat first.

Batting first, Viva Supermarket were bowled out for 146 in 32.4 overs. Middle order batter Bharat Patil top scored with 35 runs off 39 balls, with Ankit Mhapankar chipping in with 30-ball 25 and opening batter Shikhar Thakur mustering 21 runs off 31 balls. For DMCC Sports Club, with the ball, left arm spinner, Ankit Vishwarma was the wrecker-in-chief as he picked up 5-30 in his 7.4 overs. Vishwarma pitched in the right areas on a consistent basis and yielded rich dividends. He found an able ally in right arm speedster Jagdish Jadhav who struck with 3-30 in his six overs. The opening bowling pair of Vishweshvar Singh and Sajid Sheikh scalped one wicket apiece.

In reply, DMCC Sports Club chased down the target with ease in 37.1 overs, winning the match by five wickets. Riding on an unbeaten 71 off 88 balls from the top order batter Prathamesh Belchada, DMCC Sports Club made the chase look like a cake walk. Vishwakarma, who starred with the ball earlier, scored some useful runs for his team in the middle order. The middle order batter registered 37 runs off 67 balls, including five boundaries. For Viva Supermarket, the opening bowler Rahul Chaudhary picked up 2-37 in his eight overs with Patil chipping in with 2-8 in eight overs. Mayur Mangela accounted for 1-28 in his eight overs.

DMCC Sports Club’s Ankit Vishwakarma was the top performer in the match, with match winning contributions. He picked up 5-30 and with the bat scored 37 runs.
