Bharat Solanki & Kush Kariya steer Western Railway to a win in MCA Corporate Tournament’22

On March 4, Western Railway Traffic Sports Club took on Times of India Sports Club at Azad Maidan in Mumbai during the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) Corporate Tournament. Western Railway Traffic Sports Club won the toss and elected to bat first.

Batting first, Western Railway Traffic Sports Club were bowled out for 210 in 38 overs. The opening batter, Kush Kariya plundered a blistering 74 not out off 98 balls. His entertaining knock was embellished with seven boundaries. Apart from Kush, his opening partner Deepak Kumar (36 runs off 24 balls), middle order pair of Vaibhav Patil (26 runs off 40 balls) and Bharat Solanki (22 runs off 17 balls) were the other major contributors with the bat. For Times of India Sports Club, right arm quick Rakesh Pathran was the most successful bowler as he scalped 4-28 in his eight overs. He bowled well in the middle overs and provided his team with regular breakthroughs. Rakesh found an able bowling ally in Pankaj Sawant who struck with 3-31 in his eight overs.

In reply, Times of India Sports Club were bundled out for 166 in 37.5 overs, losing the match by 44 runs. Paritosh Mohite, who opened the batting, top scored with 40 runs off 51 balls, including seven boundaries. The other major contributors with the bat were middle order batters Shekhar Kadam (38 runs off 65 balls) and Chintan Gada (24 runs off 31 balls). Despite a couple of 50+ partnerships, Times of India Sports Club failed to cross the line. For Western Railway Traffic Sports Club, off spinner, Solanki was the pick of the bowlers as he accounted for 3-35 in his eight overs. He received good support from the spin twins in Rajendra Pawar and Yusuf Wadiwala, who picked up two wickets each.

Western Railway Traffic Sports Club’s all-rounder Bharat Solanki and opening batter Kush Kariya were the top performers for the team, while for Times of India Sports Club, Rakesh Puthran and Paritosh Mohite were the top contributors with ball and bat respectively.
