Anchal Valanju and Vaibhavi Raja steer SVM International School to a record title win at the School State Level Cricket Tournament
The International women’s cricket team including the likes of Harmanpreet Kaur, Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami and many more talented Indian women cricketers have proved that cricket is just not a man’s game, it’s a sport which is meant for everybody to celebrate. The recent state level cricket tournament for women also showed that India has no shortage of talented women cricketers who play with the utmost passion and dedication towards the game.
Held at the Aazam Campus in Pune (Abeda Inamdar College), it was the all important finals between Mumbai and Pune where in Pune won the toss and elected to bat first in order to make a big total. However, Mumbai bowlers did a terrific job with the ball as they restricted Pune to only 69/5 in 12 overs. The bowlers remained economical while also took wickets at the right time. Aachal Valanju was the pick of the bowlers with 2/14 in 3overs followed by a wicket each for Nimrii Rane and Vaibhavi Raja. In reply, Mumbai chased down the score in style as they won the match without losing any wickets. Openers Vaibhavi Raja (11*) and Aanchal Valanju(25*, 4fours) steered their team to a record win as they both remained unbeaten in the chase. Mumbai team (represented by SVM International School, Dadar) played terrific cricket in the quarter finals and semi finals vs Amravati and Latur too where the Mumbai openers remained unbeaten throughout the last 3 matches.
As shared by their sports coach Deepak Salunkhe- “it was a proud moment for SVM international school at Dadar. For the first time in the history of SVM international school, they won all the matches in state level without the loss of any wickets. Both the opening player Anchal Valunje and Vaibhavi Raja remained unbeaten in all the matches and create a history”
