Akhil Herwadkar’s heroics guide Eknath Shinde CC-1 to the finals of the Thane Premier League: Chief Minister Trophy 2023
In a thrilling semi-final match at Dadoji Kondev, Eknath Shinde CC-1 defeated SR’s Group by five wickets to secure their spot in the finals of the tournament. After winning the toss, Eknath Shinde CC-1 elected to field first, and SR’s Group posted a challenging total of 180 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Sagar Mishra top-scored for SR’s Group with 55 runs off 40 balls, while Sachin Yadav contributed 35 runs off just 17 balls. Nipun Panchal was the pick of the bowlers for Eknath Shinde CC-1, taking three wickets for 32 runs.
In their chase, Eknath Shinde CC-1 got off to a solid start, with opener Akhil Herwadkar anchoring the innings. He smashed five sixes and five fours en route to an impressive knock of 77 runs off 53 balls. Shashi Kadam and Siddhant Aadhatrao also contributed with 34 runs each. Eknath Shinde CC-1 reached the target of 184 runs with just one ball to spare, securing their spot in the finals.
Akhil Herwadkar’s brilliant performance with the bat earned him the player of the match award and helped Eknath Shinde CC-1 set up a mouth-watering final against their sister team Eknath Shinde CC-2.
