Abid’s match-winning 73 down the order helps Vinayak Marines clinch a thriller of a win in the Masters Cup

It was the group ‘A’ league match between Viacom 18 & Vinayak Marine services at the Elf Vengsarkar Academy, Oval.  Viacom 18 who have a good batting line up elected to bat first after winning the toss & post a big target for the opposition to chase.

However, things weren’t as hunky dory for Viacom 18 as no one fired apart from their opener V Amol who was unfortunately the only one who looked good but was run out on 40 of 26 balls (4 fours, 3 sixes). V Anuj’s 23 at down the order brought some life into the team as they managed to reach a respectable total of 132/6 in 20 overs. Vinayak Marine bowlers did a fairly good job with the ball containing the batsman most of the times. A Kanadia was the pick of the bowlers taking 2/24 in 4 overs.

Chasing 133 at just above 6, it was a great fight back by the Viacom 18 bowlers as they did not allow them to win the match easily. Vinayak Marine Services lost 8 wickets on their way before completing the chase in 16.2 overs. At one point of time, it was almost over with no hopes for Vinayak Marine as they had lost around 7 wkts within 50 runs. It was their no.7 batsman Abid who played a sensational and a match winning knock of 73* off just 41 balls. ABID entered the crease when his team was in deep trouble with hardly any batsman left. He just came and started attacking the bowlers playing his natural game. ABID did not only play a match winning knock but it was also outright entertaining to see him smash 6 fours and5 sixes in his 41 ball 73.

Vinayak Marine Services won this match in a thrilling way & all thanks must go to Abid for sure. They won the match by 2 wickets and 3.4  overs to spare & Abid was rightly adjudged man of the match for his brilliant performance.
