A Sensation called Yashasvi Jaiswal
Mr Jwala Singh, the founder of Jwala Foundation who runs Mumbai Cricket Academy once happened to be at Azad Maidan. While taking a stroll with his friend he, happened to visit one of the nets where he noticed a little boy practising. Quiet impressed as to the way he batted, Jwala Singh took interest in him and wanted to check about more about him. This is where talent met opportunity.
He is Yashasvi Jaiswal who just came to meet his uncle in Mumbai along with his parents 3 years back. While his parents went back, Yashasvi started to live in a tent in Azad maidan as he did not have accommodation facility in Mumbai. Mr. Jwala Singh met his father and assured of Yashasvi’s needs would be taken care, it was no looking back for the youngster. He began his career playing for Anjuman Islam Urdu school scoring 47 runs and took 5 wickets with his leg spin.
The flood gates were opened. He grew from strength to strength and in his second match itself scored 319 Not out and took 13 wickets against Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya in Giles shield. This feat has been recorded at Limca Books of Record and till today nobody has achieved this feat.
The third match proved that his earlier achievement was not a one time act. He scored 202 and took 12 wickets. Yes, Yashasvi had arrived.
Playing for Vero Cup scored 168 runs during selection of Mumbai under 14. He was eager to enter the bigger arena. While playing his first match at senior level at No 8 he scored 39 runs and took 1 wicket playing against well known players. His second match saw him score 22 runs and taking 3 wickets where he showed no doubts and fear.
This year Playing at Worli cup he has scored 3 consecutive centuries and has a haul of 9 wickets in 4 matches.
In Harris shield this year he has performances of 33 runs and 5 wickets in first match, 68 runs and 10 wickets in 2nd match, 155 NO and 4 wickets in third match, while in semi finals its 186 runs. In Giles shield he has scored century in all 5 matches which is a record.
The most notable feature of his achievements is he achieves big once he gets in and is hungry to perform every time he walks on the ground. His desire to learn and to excel is what makes him as one of the best talents. His mentor and coach Mr.Jwala Singh did mentioned that Yashasvi wants to work hard for the next 10 years and for him to establish at the bigger level. One step at a time is what he plans to move forward with. Talent alone is not enough, its your desire to succeed and to work towards it is what one needs to make it big. Yashasvi has it all. He was also recently felicitated by Sports Minister of Maharashtra – Mr. Vinod Tawade.
