A quarterfinals win for RBI on the back of Saurabh’s 81 & Jay Nayak’s fifer in the C Div Times Shield’19

Played between Reliance Group SC and RBI SC at the Youth’s Own Union wicket at Cross Maidan, RBI Sports Club batting first posted a total of 262/10 in 58 overs. With openers Sumit Ghadigaonkar (48) and Ameya Dandekar (33) giving good starts, it was Saurabh Singh at no.6 top scoring with a crucial 81 off 68 balls laced with 9 boundaries and a six. It was an important knock which pushed the team towards a 250+ total, From Reliance, A Ayyar with 5/60 in 16 overs was the best bowler.

Defending a total of 263, it was RBI’s left arm spinner Jay Nayak coming up with a match winning spell of 5/52 in 16.3 overs which restricted Reliance to 194 runs all out. Spinner Jay has been spot on this season while he had also recently taken 3 wkts conceding just 1 run vs PJ Hindu Gymkhana in the Cosmopolitan Shield. From Reliance, Bhushan Mankar at no.7 scored 72 runs though he lacked support from the other end as RBI went on to win the quarter finals by 68 runs.
