Warrior march to 5th consecutive win
Mumbai: Shivaji Park Warriors continued their march ahead as they successfully notched up their fifth consecutive victory defeating Ghatkopar Jet by a narrow 1-wicket in a well-contested fifth round match of the five-team double leg Mumbai Cricket Club (MCC) and Jwala Sports Foundation (JSF) organized MitsuiShoji T20 Cricket League (Season 9), played at the Air India Sports Club ground, Kalina, Santacruz.
Batting first Ghatkopar Jets were restricted to just 98 runs for the loss of 8 wickets from the truncated 17 overs innings. Only Harshad Singh 26 runs and Ruturaj G. 22 runs stayed a bit long in the middle. Yash Chavan 3 for 22, Siddhant Singh 2 for 9 and Puneet Tripathi 2 for 14 picked up the wickets for Warriors.
Later, Shivaji Park Warriors escaped to victory as the 10-wicket pair of Onkar Jadhav 15 runs from 22 balls and 32 minutes and Yashraj P. nine runs from 10 balls and 22 minutes stayed put at the crease and steered the team to victory. Warriors scored 101 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 16.5 overs. Yash Chavan was the lone batter to score 21 runs, while Ghatkopar Jets consistent wicket-taker Atharva Dakway claimed 4 for 14, skipper Ajinkya Belose 3 for 29 and Siddharth Mhatre 2 for 22 made efforts to bowl out the opposition batsmen and lead their team to victory.
Meanwhile, Ghatkopar Jets enjoyed success in their second match of the day as they defeated Bandra Heroes by 36 runs. Ghatkopar Jets batting first scored 128 for 7 in 15 overs with Aaditya Shrivastav 46 runs and Ruturaj G. 29 runs lifting the innings. Akash Sharma 2 for 16, Aman Maniyar 2 for 18 and Gopendra Bohara 2 for 36 were Heroes best bowlers. In response Bandra Heroes were dismissed for 92 in 13.3 overs. Left-arm spinner Atharva Dakway 3 for 19 and pacer Vishweshwar Singh 2 for 16 picked up the wickets.
Shivaji Park are sitting pretty at the top of the standings with 10 points from 5 matches followed by Ghatkopar Jets 8 points from 7 matchesThane Marathas and Mumbai Police, both having played 5 matches each are in third and fourth positions with 4 points each.
