All-rounder Abhishek & opener Bhupen Lalwani Lalwani’s quick 70 helps Bombay Gymkhana clinch a win in the 72nd T20 Salar Jung Tournament’21
Mumbai Police Gymkhana after being put to bat first on their home ground did not seem to be troubled as they notched up a more than decent total to defend scoring 187/8 in 20 overs. A quick opening stand followed by Humayun Hirapure’s impressive 44 ball 68 and Swapnil Kulaye’s 15 ball 39* down the order ensured a good total for the team. From the bowlers, Mohammad Ashraf Sayyed with 2/29 in 4 overs was the pick of the lot for Bombay Gymkhana. Apart from him, Abhishek Shrivastava also bagged 2 wickets.
Chasing 188 in 20 overs vs Mumbai Police Gymkhana in their home ground is never going to be easy but in form opener Bhupen Lalwani brought in his brilliance once again scoring a quickfire 55 ball 70 (5 fours, 2 sixes) to turn the game around. Bhupen has scored good amount of runs at a very impressive strike rate in white ball cricket this season and with T20 Mumbai round the corner, he is certainly making a strong case for himself.
Bhupen played the anchor’s role while all-rounder Abhishek Shrivastava at no.4 took things in his hand smashing 63 off mere 36 balls (8 fours, 1 six). Both Bhupen and Abhishek stitched 99 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket as Bombay Gymkhana cruised towards the total winning the match with one ball to spare.
