T20 Records Shattered-Spinner Akshay Ambike takes all 10 wkts in a T20 Match in Kingly Cup’20
T20 Format is coming up with surprises every passing day and the level of cricket is just going to the next level with unbelievable feats achieved by players around the world. There was a time and in fact it is still considered a big thing to take a 10 wkt haul in a Test Match. In fact only 2 bowlers so far including Anil Kumble in the history have taken all 10 wickets in an innings in a Test match. The highest feat achieved by a bowler in ODI’s is 9 wkt haul by Chaminda Vaas. Taking a 5 wkt haul in T20 is itself a big achievement but have you ever in the wildest of dreams heard of a bowler taking all 10 wkts in his spell of 4 overs in a T20 Game?
Yes sounds too superficial to believe right? But that magical feat was achieved by a promising spinner in Mumbai on 22.02.20 at Shivaji Park which is probably the breeding ground of various division cricketers in Mumbai who go on to represent in Ranji Trophy, ,MPL, IPL and even India. Mumbai Cricket is a treasure of cricketing talents and it has again proved that anything can happen in Mumbai Cricket with Akshay Ambike from Ajanta Pharma Team coming up with a surreal spell of spin bowling in the Kingly T20 Cup.
23 yr old Akshay Ambike is one of those hard working club cricketers in Mumbai who works in the HR Department of Ajanta Pharma Company while also simultaneously plays cricket. With this feat, it is certainly a proud moment for the company as the bowler came up with astonishing bowling figures of 1/10 in 4 overs vs GEP Solutions.
GEP Solutions after being put to bat first at Bengal CC, Shivaji Park were least aware on what was about to hit them and mind you, GEP Solutions is by no means a weak opposition as they had scored around 145 odd runs in their last t20 match.
Akshay Ambike speaking with Cricketgraph said ”The wicket was really good to bat but at the same time the wicket was slightly wet and I was handed over the new ball bowling the 1st over itself where in I came up with 4 wickets which just created a very big positive momentum”
With 4 down in the very 1st over, GEP Solutions were definitely under pressure while Akshay on the other hand thrived coming up with wickets in each over he bowled (2 wkts in his 2nd over, 1 wkt in his 3rd over & 3 wkts in his 4th over) . His bowling figures eventually read 1 run/10 wkts in a spell of 4 overs as GEP Solutions were bundled out for 13 runs in 7 overs. For Ajanta Pharma, it was a mere formality to chase those 14 runs for which they required only 1.4 overs to win the match by 10 wkts.
Akshay further shared with Cricketgraph-“I played two matches on that day and even in my previous match on same day, I came up with 5 wickets”
