Krutik puts up all-round show & Bhupen hits 5th ton of the season as Mumbai crush Punjab in U23 CK Nayadu Trophy ‘18
Punjab after electing to bat first at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC Ground posted a healthy total of 345 runs for their 1st innings with Krutik Hangewadi being the pick of the bowlers taking 5/102 in 22.3 overs. Mumbai in reply suffered a collapse getting all out for 136 runs in their 1st innings.
However, Mumbai bowlers gave a comeback in the 2nd innings reducing Punjab to just 163 runs with Krutik taking another fifer making it a 10 wkt haul with overall bowling figures of 10/151.
Mumbai in their 2nd innings rose to the occasion with Bhupen Lalwani opening the innings and scoring his maiden U23 ton and overall 5th ton of this season enroute a big chase of 373 in the 4th innings. Bhupen teamed up with nightwatchman Krutik Hangewadi who came at no.4 on day 4 with 245 runs needed to win. Bhupen scored a match winning 127 (357 balls) while Krutik scored a crucial 73 while the match which was evenly poised with Mumbai 335 for 5 at one point finished without any damage as Siddarth Akre (16*) and Vijay Gohil (19*) helped Mumbai cross the victory line.
Mumbai Successfully chased down the target of 373 on the back of their terrific comeback both with the bat as well as with the ball in the 2nd innings while Bhupen continues to stamp his position as a dependable opener.
