Prolific Shubham’s massive 247* dwarfs Parsee Gymkhana in the finals as DY Patil win the Young Comrade Tournament ‘18
Played at the DY Patil Ground Nerul, DY Patil and Parsee Gymkhana-two of the strongest teams in Mumbai cricketing circuit took on each other for the ultimate finale where in Parsee Gymkhana won the toss and elected to bat first.
Batting first, Parsee Gymkhana were on song with a massive 247run stand as opners Akarshit Gomel and Bravish Shetty smashed brilliant tons. While Akarshit scored a fluent 145 off 182 (13fours,1six), Bravish scored an aggressive 145 off 134 laced with 12fours and 5sixes. It was one of the best starts any team could vouch for as these two experienced chaps delivered on the right day while Raunaq Sharma at the middle order gave a much needed boost with a dominating 122 off 100balls (9fours, 5sixes) taking the team total to a very healthy score of 528/10 in 89.1 overs. Trailing a 500+ score in the finals is always difficult but DY Patil’s two most reliable young horses and run machines Shashank Singh and Shubham Ranjane brought the ship back to sailing from 17/2 to 348/3 stitching a massive 331run stand. While Shashank scored an impressive 118 off 152balls (11fours, 2sixes), Shubham went on to convert his hundred into a really big score hitting 247* off 282balls anchoring the innings till the very end with 20fours and 4sixes. Both these boys keep on showing the class they possess and IPL definitely seems to have missed out on these two young turks who are scoring heavily.
Shubham’s fantastic double ton took the team total to 502/8 before they declared their innings and Parsee Gymkhana were again all out for 204 in 2nd innings with a total lead of 230runs which DY Patil chased down successfully in 33.4overs with Shashank and Iqbal Abdullah scoring half centuries.
DY Patil won the finals by 3wkts and lift the prestigious title on the back of excellent team perfomance. The finals was a match to behold with both the sides giving their best with some great performances by Akarshit, Bravish, Shashank, Iqbal Abdullah and Pravin Tambe but it was definitely the highest run getter of the tournament Shubham Ranjane stealing the show!
The Format was-90-90 overs in 1st innings & 40:40 overs in the 2nd innings
