Goregaon Center wins the semis: thanks to Arjun’s fifer and Sidak’s 62 in the MCA U/19 50 overs tournament
Held at the National CC Ground in Mumbai, it was the all-important semi-finals between Goregaon Center & DY Patil, Nerul. On a good batting track, Goregaon center elected to bat first with an aim of making a big score and put the opposition boys under pressure.
Batting first Goregaon Sports Club made 194/10 in 43.5 overs which is not the biggest of scores to defend. Sidak Singh was the highest scorer smashing a well crafted and solid looking 62 to push his team to an atleast respectable score. Aman farooqi also scored 33 but the rest of the batsman could not fire. Left-arm spinner Simant Dubey was again the pick of the bowlers for Nerul scalping 3/35 and continuing his form from the quarter-finals where he had taken 3wkts too while sunil verma also chipped in with 3/24.
Chasing 195, Goreagaon boys made an excellent comeback with the ball as they restricted DY Patil Nerul center to 79 all-out in 25.3 overs. Medium Pacer Arjun Thakkar won the hearts of his team mates as he performed exceedingly well taking (5/23), the perfomance which was needed at the right time to dismantle the opposition.
Goregaon Center won the crucial semi-finals by 115runs and the highlight of the match was certainly Arjun thakkar and sidak singh who steered their team towards the victory line. Cricketgraph congratulates Goregaon boys and wishes them luck for the finals.
