Wankhede Stadium Celebrates 50 Glorious Years with a Guinness World Record
Mumbai, Wankhede Stadium– The iconic Wankhede Stadium, synonymous with some of the greatest moments in cricketing history, celebrated its 50th anniversary in grand style. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) marked this milestone by setting a Guinness World Record for the “Most Leather Cricket Balls Used in a Decoration.”
The remarkable feat was achieved by artistically arranging 14,505 white and red leather cricket balls to spell out “FIFTY YEARS OF WANKHEDE STADIUM” on the stadium ground. The vibrant display stood as a testament to Wankhede’s legacy as a historic venue in world cricket.
Ajinkya Naik, President of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), received the Guinness World Record certificate in a special ceremony held at the stadium. Speaking on the occasion, Ajinkya Naik said, “It is a moment of immense pride for the MCA and every cricket lover. Wankhede Stadium has witnessed countless memorable moments, and this milestone celebration is a tribute to its storied history.
The celebration brought together dignitaries, cricket administrators, and fans to honor the stadium’s legacy. Over the years, Wankhede has hosted numerous iconic matches, including the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup final where India lifted the trophy.
