Vishal Bhilare & Pawan Kumar smash fighting tons while Amogh and Tanmay steer Parkophene Cricketer to a win in the Purshottam Shield Tournament ‘17
Played between two talented and experienced teams namely PJ Hindu Gymkhana and Parkophene Cricketers at the PJ Hindu gymkhana ground at Marine Lines, PJ Hindu Gymkhana won the toss and elected to bat first as the wicket was good to bat first and score a big total.
Batting first, PJ boys were struggling at one point at 48/5 before the experienced left hander Vishal Bhilare and Pawan Kumar stitched a valiant partnership of 250runs which brought them back into the game. Vishal who has played Ranji too and is an experienced cricketer showed his class with the bat as he went on to score an elegant as well as solid looking 147 off 201balls which included 15fours and 3sixes. Right handed Pawan on the other hand who came in at no.7 scored a fabulous 118* off 148 (15fours) balls at a healthy strike rate of 81 which pushed their team total to a respectable 347/7 in 70 overs.
Parkophene Cricketers however fought really hard while chasing as almost every batsman contributed with the bat to steer their team to a thrilling 2wkt win. Right handed opener Amogh Bhatkal top scored with a fluent 83 off 105balls while Tanmay Mishra at no.5 scored an attacking unbeaten 77* off 82balls (7fours, 3sixes) while also stitched a 75run stand with atif to take the team towards the victory line. Parkophene Cricketers won the match by 2wkts and 2.2overs to spare and it was a complete team perfomance from them while on the other hand Vishal and Pawan’s tons were also noteworthy.
