Vedant and Om shine as Payyade beats Olympia to win Lashkaria Little Champs Tournament 2016
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Payyade Cricket Club posted a mammoth 265-5 in 30 overs against Olympia Sportz on 15th May at Venus Cricket Club, Mumbai, in the final match of Lashkaria Little Champs Tournament 2016. Middle order bat Vedant Gadia top scored with 75 runs off 57 balls, smacking six boundaries and a six. Gadia played some good looking cricketing shots, exuding oodles of confidence. He was a delight to watch. Vedant received good support from Abhishek Walia (49 runs off 34 balls) and Suryavansh Shedge (61 runs off 37 balls). Out of the eight bowlers used by Olympia, four of them picked up a wicket each.
It was a disastrous batting performance by Olympia as they were done and dusted for a paltry 66 in 26.3 overs, losing the match by a huge margin of 199 runs. With only two batsmen scoring in double digit, Olympia batting looked listless. Slow left arm bowler Om Sawant was the wrecker-in-chief as he ran through Olympia’s batting line-up in no time. Sawant finished off with 6-13 in 3.3 overs and was the best bowler for Payyade. He bowled well and did not let the batsmen to score of him easily.
Vedant Gadia (75 runs off 57 balls) was declared as the Man of the Match for his match-winning performance.
