Talented boys Ayush Jethwa and Anish More smash double tons for their teams in the same match in Giles Shield ‘17
While Ayush needs no introduction as far as his cricketing skills and cricketing journey is concerned. One of the most prolific all-rounders in the Mumbai cricketing circuit continued to pitch his form in the Giles Shield too where the opponents got a taste of his class while on the other Anish More displayed some exceptional batting skills as he also went on to make an aggressive double ton which helped his team give a tough fight.
Played between Parle Tilak Vidya Mandir and Swami Vivekanand International School at the Islam Gymkhana Ground. Parle Tilak won the toss and elected to bat first since the wicket was good to bat on. Opening the innings with the little genius Sanskar, Anish went on to score a fabulous double hundred which was full of great cricketing shots and a great degree of resilience. Opener Anish anchored the innings till the end as he remained unbeaten scoring 211* off just 237 deliveries which included 38 boundaries. Right-handed Anish also got a good partner in talented Ayan Pathan with whom he stitched a great partnership of 247runs. Ayan fell just 3runs short of a deserving ton as he was dismissed on 97 off 174balls (15fours). But the damage was already done as these two took their team total to a healthy 372/3 in 87 overs.
Defending a total of 372, PTVA definitely had the upper hand but SVIS had its trump card in Ayush who showed the opposition why his wicket is so crucial and how dangerous he can be. Even though the openers fell early, Ayush came in at no.3 and went on to score a marathon innings of 242 off just 202balls. Usually, most of the teams fail to chase such a big total or look for a draw but Ayush took on the bowlers with sheer dominance as he smashed 36fours en-route his swashbuckling double ton. Apart from him, Ayush Vartak also chipped in with a half century helping their team chase down the total successfully. SVIS won the match by 5wkts and Ayush who scored his 1st double ton engineered the victory for his team.
