Spinner Aayush Zimare’s fifer takes Sunil Gavaskar’s XI to a win against Ravi Shastri’s XI in IDBI Federal Cup
Into their 2nd match(for Sunil Gavaskar’s XI) of the IDBI under 14 tournament, two strong teams entered in an exciting face off namely Sunil Gavaskar’s XI & Ravi Shastri’s XI. Sunil Gavaskar’s XI wanted to bat first and luckily even after losing the toss they got what they wanted as Ravi Shastri’s XI elected to field first.
Sunil Gavaskar’s XI played good cricket and made a partially competitive score of 282 on the board. OM Sai was the top scorer in the first innings with a fluent 86 off just 111 balls. The knock was laced with 11 boundaries & he was pleasing to the eyes while batting. Openers Aditya Warang and Shubham Girkar also gave a good start with both the batsman scoring 62(168b) and 40(77b) respectively. Spinner Aman Maniar from Ravi Shastri’s XI was the saving grace picking up 5/58.
Trailing 282, Ravi Shastri’s XI was bundled out for just 109 runs. Left arm spinner and also their skipper Aayush Zimare bowled amazingly well and took a fifer with the ball. Zimare’s match winning efforts of 5/24 dented the hopes of Ravi Shastri’s XI to win the match. Out of the 5 wickets, he clean bowled 3 times which was quite amazing. Aayush considers stock ball (the type of ball (such as an off break) that a particular bowler most frequently bowls) as his weapon to deceive the batsman.
Sunil Gavaskar were 100 for no loss with their openers Aditya (37*) and Shubham(52*) again putting up a good show before the match ended in a draw. The match was drawn but Sunil Gavaskar’s XI were anyday the better performers in the match & looked like worthy winners. Sunil Gavaskar XI’s coach Javed sir was happy with his team’s performance & skipper Aayush also played the role of captain to perfection.
Their next match is against Dilip Vengsarkar’s XI and they will surely give a good time to the opponents as the whole team is looking in a good form.
