Shoaib, Azhar and Asif blow a punch together as Souvenir C.C wins over Bombay Gymkhana in the Salar Jung Tournament

On a flat track like Bombay Gymkhana which was slightly tilted towards the favor of the batsman, Bombay gymkhana rightly elected to bat first after winning the toss to put the opposition under tenterhooks.

Batting first, it was a commendable perfomance by the Bombay Gymkhana boys as they managed to score 175/7 in 20 overs which is anyday a good score to defend in T20’s. Opener Shawn who had fired in his last outing failed to give a blazing start but it was Harshad Singh who scored a solid 42 at the top of the order to develop a positive momentum. No.3 batsman Abhishek Shrivastav also scored a blazing 47 off just 34balls (6 fours & a six) but the rest of the batsman below him only managed to score 10’s & 20’s or else they would have even crossed 200 in their 20 overs. Left-arm spinner Asif Sheikh played the role of a Jadeja as he completely puzzled the batsman with his spin taking 4/21 in 4 overs. Asif was not only economical but also kept taking wickets at regular intervals.

Chasing 176 is actually quite a task but Souvenir C.C showed the opposition the power of their strong batting line up as they notched up the score in mere 18.1 overs with the loss of just 3wkts. In-form opener Shoaib sheikh once again showed his class as he scored a brilliant 67 off just 56balls to anchor the innings to a commendable win. That was not all as it was Azharuddin Querishi who provided some entertainment at the middle order with his unbeaten 54* off just 24balls which included 6fours & 3 sixes. Both the in-form batsman Shoaib & Azhar meant business as they led their team to a comfortable win.
