Shardashram Defeat SVIS To win the final of the Manoramabai Apte Memorial U-16 Girls Tournament

We have all seen Sehwag, Afridi, Maxwell & Warner smash those quick centuries but we hardly come across any news where we get to see a woman from Women’s cricket scoring a century with such a swag. But today, Cricketgraph will present you a woman cricketer who smashed one of the most entertaining centuries in the Manoramabai Apte Memorial U-16 Girls Tournament.

It was an exciting semi-final match between two strong teams namely Shardashram School and St. Joseph Convent High school at Islam Gymkhana in Mumbai. Shardashram school won the toss and elected to bat with an aim of putting the opposition under pressure. Shardashram openers lost wickets early but what followed was a sight to behold, it was a carnage by this batsman called Aachal Valanju who made her presence felt at the crease. Aachal came and completely changed the game single handedly with a match winning knock of 111 coming off just 64 balls. Aachal did not only dominate the bowlers but she also smashed boundaries at her will and always kept the run rate floating above 8 runs per over which took her team’s total to 169/3 in 20 overs. Aachal Valanju smashed 20 glorious boundaries and a big six and it was completely a ‘Paisa vasool’ knock from her!

Chasing 170, St.Joseph managed to reach a total of only 103/6 in their 20 overs and Shardashram won the match comfortably by 67 runs. Krutika Mahindrakar and Akshi Gaurav were the pick of the bowlers taking 3/20 and 2/43 respectively. With this they won the semi-finals of the tournament.

WHAT FOLLOWED was a final match against SVIS(Swami Vivekanand) which was a low scoring encounter(SVIS all out for 30 in 8.4 overs). In that match, Shardashram skipper Krutika Mahindrakar took 3/11 followed by 3/11 by Akshi Gaurav. Nirmithi Rane was the pick of the bowlers with a great spell of 3wkts with just 1 run in her 1.1 overs. Chasing just 33 was a cakewalk and Aachal again remained unbeaten on 18* before she helped her team win the finals by 9 wickets.

Who told only man can bat aggressively? Here she is proving everybody wrong with her batting prowess.
