Prashant Suryavanshi’s fifer takes Thane Police to a win against HPCL in the Thane Vaibhav Tournament
It was a nail biting encounter between two competitive teams namely HPCL & Thane City Police at HPCL ground in Mumbai. HPCL won the toss and elected to field first as the conditions were favorable for their bowlers to put pressure on the Thane Team.
Batting first, Thane City Police managed to reach a very healthy and a competitive total of 230/9 in 35 overs. Openers Saidesh Bhagat and Kishor Suryavanshi gave a good start with Saidesh scoring a fluent 41 off 36 balls. No. 3 batsman Amit Sakpal score 37 runs in 54 balls and No.5 batsman Prakash Patil was the pick of the batsman scoring a well crafted 52 off 56 (5 fours, 1six) balls at the middle order. From HPCL, Abhijit More and Bhushan Patil were the pick of the bowlers taking 4/53 & 2/37 respectively.
It was a wonderful match and a great tough fight put by HPCL too where the match could have gone in anybody’s favor as both the teams were giving their best till the end. Eventually HPCL were all out for 222 in 33.4 overs and fell just 8 runs short of a victory. Even if they would have played 8 more balls, the outcome could have been possibly different. Prashant Suryavanshi the all-rounder of Thane again showed his mettle with the ball taking 5/41 in 7 overs. Prashant broke partnerships time and again and most importantly he striked when the wickets were needed the most.
This is ‘Man of the Match’ Prashant’s second 5 wkt haul in the tournament and he will certainly be a player the opponents will have to be worried in the coming matches of the tournament.
