Prakash Aswani’s all-round show helps Bharti Airtel win the Finals of the Tata Motors Tournament
Bharti Airtel & Deutsche bank were pitted against each other for the crucial finals of the Tata Motors Tournament at the Air India Sports Club in Santa Cruz, Mumbai. Deutsche bank won the toss and elected to bowl first with an aim of restricting them to a low score and putting the opposition under pressure.
Bharti Airtel were not off to the most memorable starts as their opener Vishal kambli was clean bowled in the very 1st ball of the innings. However, Jitesh Purabia (23 off 23 balls) and Prakash Aswani resurrected the innings together with an important partnership. Right handed Aswani was the leading scorer in the match scoring a match winning 78 off just 58 balls. Prakash smashed 4 fours and 3 big sixes and also did equally good running between the wickets. R Katoch & M More also gave important cameos at the middle order scoring 34 and 28*(14 balls) respectively
Chasing 175 is always tough and especially against a good bowling attack of Airtel. Deutsche Bank were all out for 110 in just 16.3 overs thanks to some great bowling by Airtel. Aswani who shined with the bat also became the star bowler bowling a fabulous spell of 4/21 in 4 overs with his left arm spin. M More was also wonderful with the ball taking 3/7 in his 1.3 overs.
Bharti Airtel won the finals in style by 64 runs and ‘All-rounder’ Prakash Aswani was adjudged ‘man of the match’ for his stupendous performance. Mayur More was adjudged “Man of the series” for his consistent batting (Jitesh Purabia who was only 15 runs behind him also played well throughout the tournament) Prakash Aswani who has been playing good cricket throughout the series was also awarded ‘the emerging player’ for his promising performance in the series.
Cricketgraph congrats Bharti Airtel for their win in the finals and wishes them to continue playing good cricket in the future.
