Paresh Shah & Dwij Adhwaryu steer PJ Hindu Gymkhana to a title win in the Gannon Dunkerley T20 Tournament‘18

Played at the PJ Hindu Gymkhana, It was the all important finals between CCI and PJ Hindu Gymkhana. Both the teams have good depth and they have performed thoroughly well throughout the tournament and hence an intense competition was bound to happen.

PJ Hindu Gymkhana who have a good batting line up elected to bat first and notched up 177/9 in 20 overs which is a really healthy score to defend in T20’s.  The openers Madhav Kotak(26) and Suhel Mistry(37) gave a solid start at the top of the order while Dwij Adhwaryu at the lower middle order gave the finishing touch reminding us of Abdul Razzaq of Pakistan who used to bat like this in the One Dayers. Dwij scored an unbeaten 34* off 18balls smashing 5fours and pushing the team total to 177/7 in 20overs. From the bowlers, Minesh Shah was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/35 in 4 overs.

Chasing 178 and that too in the finals of any T20 Tournament is a very pressureful task. The pressure is definitely more on the batsman than the bowlers and CCI despite Raj Khandwala’s brilliant 25ball 66 fell short of 19runs as the rest of the batsmen failed to give him adequate support and convert their scores into something big. The bowlers bowled really well at the death with Paresh Shah bowling a match winning spell of 4/19 in 4overs with a wicket while all-rounder Dwij Adhwaryu also chipping in with 2wkts making it a all-round perfomance.

PJ Hindu Gymkhana win the finals and lift the trophy of the prestigious Gannon Dunkerley T20 Tournament ’18 with excellent team perfomance throughout the season.
