Opener Kushal Dawane’s exquisite 115 steers New Hind SC to a win in the Police Shield Tournament ‘17
Played at the KSA, Cross Maidan in Mumbai, it was a match between two highly talented teams namely New Hind SC and Karnatak Sporting Association where in Karnatak SA won the toss and elected to bowl first hoping that the pitch may have something for the bowlers.
Batting first, New Hind SC scored a healthy total of 322/9 in 70 overs and showed that the pitch has decent support for the batsman too. Right handed opener Kushal Dawane scored an elegant and unbashed innings of 115 off 176 deliveries (9fours). Kushal did a lot of hardwork running between the wickets as only 36runs of his 115 were scored in boundaries. Kushal’s temperament and solidity at the crease was quite impressive while young Karan Shah who is known for his attacking cricket smashed a quickfire 61 off 55balls(12 fours). Off-spinner Akshay Girap was the pick of the bowlers taking 5/114 in 27overs.
In reply, Karnatak SA gave a tough fight but fell short of just 14runs to clinch a win. Karnatak SA scored 308/10 in 68 overs where in inform Eknath kerkar (81 off 121deliveries) and Vinayak Bhoir (61 off just 36deliveries) chipped in with crucial contributions. Off-spinner Akshay Jhambekar was the pick of the bowler as he took 4/59 in 14 overs. Karnatak SA won the match and it was definitely Kushal’s ton which remained the highlight perfomance of the match.
