With cricketing season officially taking a mark, it’s time for Mumbai cricketers to prepare themselves for an intense season coming ahead. Before Syed Mushtaq Ali begins from January, Mumbai Cricket Association has arranged practice matches for the Mumbai pool of cricketers which will not only be an ideal platform for them to practice but also a good opportunity for selectors to observe the pool of junior as well as senior players.
The teams have been divided into 4 groups namely Team A, Team B, Team C & Team D. In the opening match which was played between Team C and Team D, it was Yashashvi who impressed one and all with fabulous striking. Chasing 184 against a spirited Team C, Yashashvi opening the innings scored a match winning 103* off 49 balls (8 fours, 8 sixes) cruising his team towards a comfortable win.
In the match played on 22nd December, it was again Suryakumar Yadav who played from Team B who signaled his pristine form with a mesmerizing knock of 120 runs in mere 47 balls. Played at Wankhede Stadium, Surya smashed 10 fours and 9 sixes simply toying with the bowling attack. On the other hand Team D gave a tough fight chasing 214 with Yashashvi Jaiswal (54) and Sachin Yadav (43) giving excellent starts at the top of the order. Team B won the practice match by 11 runs as Team D managed to reach 202/8 in 20 overs.

Divyaansh Saxena who was the highest scorer in India U19 World Cup’19 and also a prolific Mumbai U19 player was the chief guest invited to inauagrate the new ground at Uttan, Mira-Bhayandar. His presence also helped in motivating the young players of the academy. Divyansh shared with Cricketgraph “The facilities at Rising Star Sports Foundation are really good, the ground is really big and beautiful, its being prepared professionally to ensure players get top level practice sessions. Such facilities in Mira-Bhayandar region will certainly boost the cricket culture, will myself come here in future for practice sessions soon”

Tanmay Srivastava is an Indian Domestic Cricketer who was the highest run scorer in India U19 World Cup 2008. His U19 world cup batchmates were none other than the likes of Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson from the opposite side. Tanmay who has represented India Blue team has a prolific domestic career spanning almost 15 years.
With 7000 + runs across all formats, Tanmay has been the backbone of Uttar Pradesh team at the top order. Tanmay was also part of Kings XI Punjab and Deccan Chargers in IPL. Just recently some weeks back Tanmay hanged his boots from all forms of Cricket and this is probably his first interview post retirement.

At a time when the world was stuck in a dilemma on what do during this lockdown phase including us! Fortunately! We were blessed with some activities which kept our motivation on even during these 8 months of lockdown. One of those activities which proved to be successful for Cricketgraph and engaging for the viewers were the cricket interviews we conducted.
The cricket interviews with numerous players, coaches and selectors ensured the Cricketgraph family which comprises of more than 1 lakh + active cricketers and professionals related to cricket were not bored during the lockdown phase. Those interviews gave the viewers a world full of insights, information and well as entertainment related to the world of Cricket. The interviews also provided a platform to talented cricketers and coaches whose achievements were highlighted to a global audience.
Now that lockdown has partially been lifted and most of the activities are slowly beginning to streamline, we take this opportunity to thank our Cricketgraph hosts who contributed in the various segments of interviews.
Host Jalal Shaikh:
A Former Cricketer, Cricket Coach, Cricket Observer, Selector and a Cricket Anchor, Jalal Shaikh is a multi talented personality all bundled into one. Jalal Shaikh is a man of wisdom and whatever he says, he expresses it from his heart. It is probably his pure hearted wisdom and honesty which makes his interviews very engaging for cricketers as well as for parents who get to know many things through his interviews. A former professional cricketer himself, Jalal sir has close to 4 decades of experience as a cricketer and now he is the Head Coach at Nerul Gymkhana.
During his playing days, he played top division cricket representing Parsee Gymkhana Worli CC, Star CC, Islam Gymkhana, National CC and Parsee Cyclists CC. Just to add a few feathers to his cap, he has played Times Shield tournament for 36 years. He has also won Best Bowler and Best Batsman awards in Times Shield receiving the Mayor’s award from the first citizen of Bombay.
Jalal sir in his hosting stint anchored the “Candid Chat Show” at Cricketgraph interviewing numerous personalities from the world of cricket. Right from Rohit Sharma’s Coach Dinesh Lad to former Indian Cricketers like Wasim Jaffer, Pravin Amre, Sairaj Bahutule to Ranji Trophy selectors like Shridhar Mandle and Pratik Mehta to name a few, Jalal sir took many interviews which brought about a change and gave the audience insightful information.
The best part of his interview is he asks questions which the “AAM JANTA” wants to hear, he touches the topics which needs attention & redressal and that is what makes him special. An engineer by profession but a cricketer by heart, Anoop Bindal in many ways is the Mr. Dependable when it comes to anchoring for Cricketgraph Team. Bhupen Lalwani –
A run machine with the bat and one of the raw talents of Mumbai Cricket, Bhupen Lalwani who made his Ranji Trophy Debut for Mumbai last season was the Chief Host for “Cricketgraph Youngistan” interviews. Bhupen has been one of highest run getters in India from last 2 years in BCCI’s CK Nayadu Trophy. Bhupen also played for Mumbai University in all India Tournament while he has also selected in India U16 Camp where he was the highest scorer from West Zone.

Rajeev Mishra who is also the founder of RM Sports specializes in manufacturing cricket goods. Rajeev has been connected with Cricket since more than 2 decades. Rajeev began playing cricket at the age of 12 while he was even selected for his hostel team at the age of 14. The academy was built to ensure the players from Ghatkopar and the nearby vicinity areas get a good place to practice and don’t need to travel all the way for a good cricket academy. Jolly Friends Sports Club has all the facilities like changing room, washroom, shower facility, 5 nets and a big ground. The academy is also shortly coming up with indoor nets for its students.
There are at present qualified 4 Coaches to manage the academy under the Head Coach Shankar Kunchikor. Head Coach Shankar Kunchikor is a former A Div Times Shield player who has around 15 centuries in Mumbai’s top division cricket during his playing days. The academy is open for all age groups beginning from 7 yrs of age.
