Good show by Abbas Karachiwala and team help them zoom past a semis win in the Bohra Shield Tournament

Semi-final matches are always exciting & they are always full of pressure, One such match was between Burhani’s XI vs Crystal Ice at the Elphinstone Ground at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. Team Burhani won the toss on a track which was favoring the bowlers so they can possibly put a healthy total to defend against the opposition.

Batting first, the pitch showed its colors as it turned out to be quite a low scoring affair for both the teams. Burhani’s XI managed to score only 127/8 in 20 overs as the bowlers did a fantastic job of restricting the batsman & not giving them any margin for error. Opener Murtaza scored a nice 27 off just 24 balls followed by 25 off 20 by Abbas & 22 off 16 by Taikhum at the middle order. Ismail was the pick of the bowlers from Crysyal ice as he scalped 3wickets followed by 2wkts each for Huzefa & Mehlum.

However, it was good to see Burhani boys defend their score of 127 as they turned this match into a exciting competition.  All the bowlers & fielders poured their heart in as they restricted Crysral Ice to 115/8 in 20overs & won the match by 12 runs. Abbas Karachiwala was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/12 in his 4 overs. The off spinners of Abbas proved to be quite effective as he successfully contained the batsman & also took wickets at the right time. Another off-spinner Taikhum also took 2wkts while the rest of the bowlers also did a good job around these two bowlers.

It was a collectively great team perfomance & the highlights of the match were Abbas & Taikhum who gave all-round contributions in a low scoring semi-finals.
