In a close fought Inter-College knockout match between ARSD College and Kirori Mal College (KMC), the former emerged winners by 2 wickets thanks to superb batting by the openers Manav Goel (79) and Shubham Arora (51).
Played at NSIT Dwarka, KMC batted first and put up a good total of 213 runs in 45 overs. The major contributors were Ankit Dahiya (77*) and Mridul (61). For ARSD, Manmohan and Arun Negi captured 2 wickets each.
Chasing 214 runs to remain in the tournament, ARSD were off to a dream start as openers Manav Goel and Shubham Arora added 140 runs for the first wicket. But as they say, nothing can be predicted in cricket. Once the openers were dismissed, ARSD lost the track of the chase. It was only on the second last ball of the match that they were able to cross the line and had lost 8 wickets in the process. For KMC, Akhilesh Yadav captured 4 wickets but was unlucky to end on the losing side.
Both teams played extremely well and fought till the very end. But as its a game, there has to be a winner and a loser. KMC’s challenge in the tournament ends here whereas ARSD have earned themselves one more shot to stay alive in the event.
Brief Scores:
KMC: 213/5 in 45 overs (Ankit Dahiya 77*, Mridul 61, Manmohan 2/41, Arun Negi 2/43)
ARSD: 214/8 in 44.5 overs (Manav Goel 79, Shubham Arora 51, Akhilesh Yadav 4/44)
