Dark Knight Riders and Super Strikers make it to the finals of TPL
On October 16, three matches were played during the fifth edition of the Tyrant Premier League (TPL) to arrive at the competition’s finalists. Four teams, namely, Aashni Legends, Super Strikers, Dark Knight Riders, and Shah Nawabs, were the contenders for the top two spots. Qualifier 1, Eliminator, and Qualifier 2 were the three games played at the Catholic Gymkhana Turf in Mumbai. All the matches were 13-overs-a-side.
Qualifier 1: Dark Knight Riders pip Super Strikers by 11 runs
Riding on Shaival Sheth’s unbeaten 43 off 32, Dark Knight Riders posted a competitive score of 85/7 in 13 overs. For Super Strikers, Yashesh Parikh and Harsh Mehta were the most successful bowlers, claiming two wickets each. In reply, Super Strikers fought hard but failed to chase the target, as they fell short of 11 runs. Super Strikers were restricted to74/9 in 13 overs. Parikh starred with the bat for his team as he mustered 12 off 13. For Dark Knight Riders, captain Nilay Dani and Rahil were the top performers with the ball, as they accounted for two scalps apiece.
Eliminator: Aashni Legends beat Shah Nawabs by 22 runs
In a low-scoring encounter, Aashni Legends handed a 22-run defeat to Shah Nawabs after scoring 61/9 in 13 overs, batting first. Vishal top-scored with an undefeated 21 off 29 to help Aashni Legends post a fighting score on board. For Shah Nawabds, captain Rushabh Shah and Rushabh Doshi wreaked havoc with the ball as they struck three wickets each. In response, Shah Nawabds had a terrible day with the bat as they scored only 39/9. Apart from Amit Shah (13), none of the other batters of Shah Nawabs scored in double digits. For Aashni Legends, Deep Shah, Roshan Sanghvi, and Vishal chipped in with two scalps each.
Qualifier 2: Super Strikers trounce Aashni Legends by 6 wickets
The loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of Eliminator locked horns against each other in Qualifier 2 for a spot in the finals of TPL. Batting first, Aashni Legends put together 57/9 in 13 overs, with Atit starring with the bat, muscling 21 not out off 18. Yashesh Parikh was the pick of the bowlers for Super Strikers as he accounted for 2/3 in two overs. Chasing a modest 58, Super Strikers made light work of the run chase as they completed the formalities in 10.3 overs with six wickets in hand. Harsh Mehta and Sahil Shah contributed 19 runs apiece to seal the deal for their team. On the other hand, Jash Desai was the most successful bowler for Aashni Legends, as he picked up 3/2 in one over.
