The second edition of the much-awaited MCA BKC RC Members Premier League (MPL) will kick start from February 25, with five elite teams locking horns against each other, to ultimately clinch the championship. The first season saw many players making a mark in the tournament and on the basis of that, five icon players, one from each team have been identified.
The five teams participating in this marquee competition are, JC Four Oaks Spartans, DDPL XI Wizards, Hemant Tool Tornadoes, Marshalls Royals and Spottlightt Social Scorchers. Team JC Four Oaks Spartans is owned by Ravindra Jhunjhunwala and Sumiran Mehta, with Vijay Singh being the icon player. Team DDPL XI Wizards is owned by Piyush Patel and the icon player of the team is Ojas Mehta. Team Hemant Tool Tornadoes is owned by Vivek Zaveri and the icon player is Chetan Kapoor. Team Marshalls Royals is owned by Karan Sharma and the icon player is Jeetendra Diwan. Team Spottlightt Social Scorchers is owned by Deepaq Modgil and the icon player is Abhishek Javeri.
Icon Players

Ojas Mehta (DDPL Strikers): In the world of cricket, a phrase that is commonly used is “horses for courses”. For DDPL XI Wizards, Ojas Mehta was a perfect testimony to this phrase. Coming in place of an injured player in the Gold final of the MPL last year, DDPL XI Wizards bought Ojas for 11,000 credits. It was a complete “paisa vasool” for the team owner as Ojas went on to score a century in the all important Gold final. Ojas was one of the most prolific batters in the last season’s MPL.
Ojas is a right handed opening batter and a right arm leg spinner. Apart from being an enterprising businessman off the field, he is a swashbuckling cricketer on the field. He is an avid lover of the sport and plays cricket for several teams like Bombay Scottish School Dad’s team, Old Monk, a private team, of which former India cricketer Ramesh Powar is a part of, JC (Just Cricket) team, and ofcourse DDPL XI Wizards.

Jeetinder Diwan (Marshalls Royals):

A banker by profession, Jeetinder Diwan is unequivocally one of the most bankable players in the MPL. Playing for Marshalls Royals in the first edition of MPL, this right handed opening batter made some useful contributions at the top of the order. He was more often than not responsible for providing a solid start to his team with the bat.
The opening batter was the top run scorer for his team in the last edition of MPL. His team was able to score big, courtesy of his stellar batting performance. He is an experienced cricketer, having played cricket for a host of teams including JNS Jaguars School Dad’s team, JC team and Marshalls Royals.

Vijay Singh (JC Four Oaks Spartans): Being a real estate advisor, trust forms an integral part of Vijay Singh’s profession. Not only off the field can one trust him with his ability to offer a good advice but also he can be trusted on the field, especially when he walks out to bat in crunch situations. Vijay is a right handed middle order batter and is known for his hard hitting abilities. He is a genuine hitter and can play quick fire cameos to bail out his team from crisis. In the last season’s MPL, with his blitzkrieg, he steered his team to the championship, as JC Four Oaks Spartans won the Platinum final. Vijay Singh is also the skipper of MCA BKC RC Team.
The creator of MCA RC Cricket Team four years back, he has been an active cricketer and organizer of MCA BKC RC MPL. Apart from representing JC Four Oaks Spartans in the MPL, he plays for Old Monk, JC and St. Mary School Dad’s team.

Abhishek Javeri (Spottlightt Social Scorchers): The Managing Director of a big corporate house like Sadhana Nitrochem Ltd., Abhishek Javeri’s home club is Ace Cricket Club & he knows the importance of team work off the field as well as on the field which makes him a stupendous team player.
Abhishek is a right arm speedster and a right handed middle order batter. He made some useful contributions with both bat and ball in the last season of MPL, thanks to his genuine all-round abilities. He is a passionate cricketer and plays for Bombay Gymkhana, Ascend School Dad’s team, and Spottlightt Social Scorchers in the MCA BKC RC MPL

Chetan Kapoor (Hemant Tool Tornadoes): Chetan is a right handed opening batter and a right arm off spinner. Chetan used to be a medium pacer but now he is bowling off-spin. Working in the airline industry as a general manager, he has the wings to lift his team from any kind of difficult situations with ease, courtesy of his magnificent all-round abilities. In the last season of the MPL, he showcased his innate talent with both bat and ball.
Chetan is an avid cricketer and plays for different teams like AVM School Dad’s team, JC and Hemant Tool Tornadoes in the MCA BKC RC MPL. The Tornadoes will want this all-rounder to fire on all cylinders in this edition of the MPL too.
Registrations for the IDFC First Bank MCA BKC RC Members Premier League are open till 6pm on February 11, 2022. On February 12, 2022, there will be a player auction at MCA in Bandra-Kurla Complex between 10am and 3pm. Team owners, icon players and other players in the MPL will be a part of the ceremony.
Played at Woods Cricket Ground in Mumbai, Evershine XI opting to bat first posted a very healthy total on board scoring 206/5 in 20 overs. Even though, Evershine lost their openers early, it was their no.3 batsman Sanat Patel turning the course of the game with a brilliant knock of 108 runs. Sanat took mere 54 deliveries at a striker rate of 200.00 smashing 7 sixes and 9 fours. Sanat was well supported by Shravan Shukla who scored 45* off 35 balls.
Dream Team XI in reply managed to give a fight but fell short of 20 runs reaching a total of 186/9 in 20 overs. Manish Solanki and Karan Pandey bagged 3 wkts each as Evershine won the match by 20 runs. Sanat Patel for his match winning century was declared “Man of the Match”

New Way Travels opting to bat first scored a total of 164/10 in 38.2 overs. Middle Order Players Sanjay Raut (43 runs) and Santosh Mandlik (49 runs) were the top scorers for their team. From the bowlers, Karuna Tiwari with 3/17 in 5.2 overs was the pick of the lot.
Chasing 165, Phonix Openers Sagar and Shrawan Gawde took on the opposition bowlers with aggression stitching 151 runs for the 1st wicket in mere 20.4 overs. Sagar batted till the end scoring 56 off 54 balls while Shrawan played the accelerator’s role smashing 94 runs in 74 balls smashing 12 fours and a six.

DY Patil A after being put to bat first on their home ground could not muster a big total on board scoring 238/10 in 74.4 overs. India U19 & Mumbai Player Atharva Ankolekar ran through DY’s batting line up taking crucial wickets and not allowing the batters to settle. Atharva returned with bowling figures of 6/63 in 24 overs including 3 maidens. Indian Customs in reply are currently batting at 19/0 in 7 overs and looks like an exciting encounter in the making.

Played at the MCA Sachin Tendulkar Ground in Kandivali, Mumbai, Indian Oil after opting to bat first vs Mumbai Customs have so far notched up a total of 345/7 in 90 overs. Mumbai U19’s young opener Musheer Khan who was the top all rounder in Cooch Behar continued his magical touch with the bat as he went on to score a brilliant century in his Times Shield Match.
Opening the innings, Musheer scored 109 runs off 170 balls laced with 16 boundaries. Apart from Musheer, Khizar Dafedar (65 runs) and Captain Siddhesh Lad (65* runs) scored half centuries. The match looks interesting as Mumbai Customs also have an equally good batting line up and this seems to be one interesting match in the making.

Played at Cross Maidan, Souvenir CC after being put to bat first posted a total of 217/5 in 40 overs. Opener Akhand Pratap Singh and no.3 batsman Saqib Mulani top scored for Souvenir smashing crucial half centuries. Akhand scored 51 runs off 80 balls laced with 6 boundaries while Saqib scored 61 off 91 balls smashing 7 fours and a six. Harsh Aghav remained unbeaten scoring 43* off 33 balls.

Defending a total of 217, Sunder CC were all out for 198 runs courtesy a match winning bowling spell from left arm spinner Sumit Prajapati who returned with excellent bowling figures of 5/36 in 6.2 overs. Apart from Sumit, Souvenir CC’s all-rounder Senior Team Member Rohan Bane also bagged 3 wkts for 38 runs & also scored 22 runs with the bat. It was a cumulative good performance by Souvenir Boys as they clinched a memorable win by 19 runs.

In the match which took place between Real Cricket Academy vs Dream 11 VCA at Mahul. Real Cricket Academy team clinched an impressive win in the match which went till bottom of the wire. Dream XI VCA batting first posted a total of 168/9 in 35 overs.
Aditya Khadka displayed good line and length and took away top 4 key wickets to put the opponents team to back foot. Chasing 169 runs, the dependent pair of Ayush Mhatre & Ayush patil came with an extraordinary & powerful partnership of 90 runs to change the course of the match. At the end it was, Vedant Toprani’s heroics innings with 50* runs which helped Real C.A win the match. Vedant stitched an excellent partnership with Lokesh Mistry playing his part also to the end to clinch the semi finals win for Real Cricket Academy.
Played at the picturesque MCA BKC Ground in Bandra, Islam Gymkhana after opting to bat first posted a total of 199/9 in 40 overs. Opener Mihir Agarwal scored a solid half century smashing 57 runs off 84 balls laced with 6 boundaries. The bowlers did a tight job with Vinayak Pillai being the pick of the lot with 3/25 in his 8 overs.
Defending a modest total of 200, the pressure was certainly more on Islam Gymkhana team but they delivered under pressure restricting Wellington CC to 195 runs. Wellington Cricket Club gave tough fight but eventually fell short by a narrow margin of 5 runs ending as runners up to the tournament. Spinner Bhavesh Patel with 3/28 in 6 overs was the pick of the lot from Islam Gymkhana.
Islam Gymkhana won the finals by 5 runs and become the Champions of Madhav Mantri Tournament C & D Division.

The league match between Sigma Sports and Recreation Academy and 3G Sports Academy 1, of the First U-19 Late Shree Mata Anguri Devi Memorial Cricket Tournament, was held on 4th February 2022, Friday, at LetsBase Suntan Greens, Gurgaon. The coin was tossed and Sigma Sports and Recreation Academy won the toss and elected to bat first.
The openers of the Sigma Sports and Recreation Academy came in to bat and were unable to give a good start to their team. They lost their 1st wicket in 11.4 overs on a score of 29. As a result, within the next 14 runs, the Sigma Sports and Recreation Academy lost 9 wickets and could only manage to score 43 runs in 21 overs. It was 3G Sports Academy 1’s, Right-arm Off Break bowler, Krishna Kumar who bowled an amazing spell. He bowled 5 overs, giving away 5 runs and bagging 7 wickets, which proved to be very helpful in restricting the opponents to a low score.
Also, the Right-arm fast bowler, Suyansh SIngh bagged 2 wickets. The 3G Sports Academy 1 was successful in chasing the target score of 44 runs. They chased 46 runs in only 5 overs losing 1 wicket. The Right Handed Batter, Aditya scored 19 runs 0ff 17 deliveries. His inning included 4 fours. The 3G Sports Academy 1 won the match & Krishna Kumar was declared ‘Player of the Match’ for his spell.
