In the world of cricket, while there are some players, who are ambidextrous, that is they can play with either of their hands, there are a few, who are compelled to play with just the one hand, which is sometimes not their first choice. Rohit Singh is one such cricketer, who lost his right hand in a road accident, one and a half years back. However, that did not deter the Udaipur-born from playing the sport he loved. Prior to the accident, Rohit was a right-handed cricketer and after the accident he was forced to bid adieu to his right hand style of play and embrace the left hand style.
Rohit, 20, told CricketGraph, “I enjoyed playing cricket right from my childhood. I used to be a right arm medium pace bowler. However things changed after the accident. I lost my right hand in a road accident around 18 months back. Losing a vital body part as an arm was depressing. I was at home for a good one year after the accident since I didn’t feel like going out. After that, I decided to take up the challenge of playing cricket with one hand. There is a cricket academy near my house. I joined Talent Search academy and the coach there, Abrar Hussain sir, taught me to play with my left hand. ”
Rohit is now a left arm spinner. He will be going for the selection trials of Rajasthan state handicap team in the first week of March. In 2021, he was in good form as he was the best bowler of the tournament Talent Premiere League organized by Talent Search academy in Rajasthan. Rohit, the left arm spinner, scalped seven wickets in three matches in that competition.

Alongside cricket, he has pursued his higher education. At present, he is in the first year of M.Com. This 20-year old from Rajasthan is indeed an inspiration and a testimony to the fact that nothing is impossible, provided you have the will and determination to make it work for you.
