Ranji Trophy Player and Experienced Campaigner Prayag Bhati seems to be proving his mettle once again with solid knocks for his team CGST & C.EX Mumbai Zone. In the match vs Space Sports Club, CGST & C.EX Mumbai Zone scored a total of 173/10 in 38 overs out of which Prayag Bhati was the top scorer scoring a crucial half century. Coming at no.3 Prayag scored 64 runs in 50 balls (10 fours) in a match where pacer Deepak Shetty was not allowing the batters to settle with his fiery spell of 6/58. Space CC in reply chased down the score successfully with Japjeet Randhawa (69*) and Ninad Kadam (84) scoring half centuries.

Prayag continued his good touch in the next match vs Repro India too where C.GST and C.EX Mumbai Zone batting first scored 361 runs in 67.4 overs with Yash Chavan (111 runs), Rohan Marwaha (67 runs) and Prayag Bhati (58 runs off 60 balls, 6 fours) being the top scorers. R Boys after being put to bat first at Woods Cricket Ground in Mumbai posted a total of 131/7 in 20 overs. Opener Rohit Manjrekar (48 runs) and Deepak Singh at the lower order with his quick 14 ball 34 were the top scorers. The Cricket Club in reply could only manage a total of 110/9 in 20 overs courtesy some tight bowling spells by Mukesh Patel who took 3 wkts for just 5 runs including a maiden in his 4 overs. Vinayak Mahajan who bagged Man of the Match award took 3/12 in 4 overs.

In the other match which took place vs Marshalls, R Boy’s Mukesh Patel proved age is just a number. Marshalls opting to bat first were all out for 75 runs courtesy a hat trick first over by Mukesh Patel.

Speaking with Cricketgraph, Mukesh shared “I have taken Hatrick in the 1st over of the match, i pushed Marshalls back and created pressure, so opponents were not able to score freely getting all out for 75 runs”

R Boys in reply chased down the score in mere 7 overs with Rahul Singh piling on 41* off 25 balls as they won the match by 9 wkts. Mukesh Patel for his brilliant spell was declared ‘man of the match”

On March 11, Tata Power locked horns against JK Sports Club at Matunga Gymkhana in Mumbai during the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) Corporate Trophy tournament.  Tata Power won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Riding on twin half-centuries from top order batter Atharva Adhikari and middle order batter Navnath Pawar, JK Sports Club posted a competitive score of 226 in 38.5 overs. While Adhikari mustered a 59-ball 53, including five boundaries and two sixes, Pawar muscled a 47-ball 59, including half a dozen boundaries and three hits over the fence. JK Sports Club was bundled out inside 40 overs, thanks to the opening bowler of Tata Power, Wilkin Mota who struck with 3-26 in 5.5 overs. Mota was well supported by Farhan Shaikh and Abhinav Singh who scalped two wickets each as well as by Sagar Vainde and Gajanan Thakur who chipped in one wicket apiece.

In reply, Tata Power completed the formalities in just 30.4 overs as they won the match by four wickets. Their opening batter Rohan Bane top scored with 69 runs off 35 balls, including 11 boundaries and a six. Bane led the run chase from the front and stitched a 86-run partnership with his partner Akhand Singh (23 runs off 38 balls). Apart from Bane and Singh, Santosh Dighe (36 runs of 43 balls), Udya Kolambe (36 runs off 31 balls), Awais Khan (25 runs off 21 balls) and Abhinav SIngh (21 not out off 13 balls) made some useful contributions with the bat to see their side home. For JK Sports Club, the right arm off spinner Atharva Adhikari was the top performer with the ball as he accounted for 2-56 in his eight overs. Navnath Pawar, Nirek Gawand and Mihir Jadhav chipped in with one wicket each.   

Tata Power beat JK Sports Club by four wickets as the former chased down 227 in 30.4 overs during the MCA Corporate Trophy.

On March 11, Lilavati Hospital clashed against IDBI Sports Club during the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) Corporate Trophy tournament.  IDBI Sports Club won the toss and elected to bat first.

IDBI Sports Club were bundled out for a modest score of 182 in 38.3 overs. Aaditya Srivastava top scored with a delightful 70 and received good support from Aarshin Deshmukh who contributed with a useful 34. For Lilavati Hospital, Vijay Nadkar was the pick of the bowlers as he wreaked havoc with the ball scalping 7-17. Nadkar bowled in the right areas on a consistent basis and yielded rich dividends. He ran through the opposition line-up in a jiffy and put his team in a commanding position.

In reply, Lilavati Hospital fought hard as they chased down the target in 37.1 overs, winning the match by two wickets. Darmesh Swami plundered a blistering 51 to lead the run chase from the front. Sandesh Pandere too chipped in with 37 to help his team cross the line against IDBI Sports Club. 

Lilavati Hospital’s star bowler Vijay Nadkar was the top performer with the ball as he picked up 7-17 to guide his team to a two-wicket win against IDBI Sports Club during the MCA Corporate Trophy. 

Played at Somaiya Cricket Ground in Mumbai, JC Four Oaks Spartans opting to bat first posted a total of 162/6 in 20 overs. Opener Vishal Miglani scored 53 runs off 31 balls while Sumiran Mehta at np.4 scored 35 runs off 40 balls. From the bowlers, Ojas Mehta (1/22 in 4 overs) and Aneesh Vijayakar (1/7 in 2 overs) were the pick of the lot.

Chasing 163, DDPL’s ever dependable and in form Ojas anchored the chase in style scoring 74* off 53 balls opening the innings. Ojas smashed 5 fours and 3 sixes keeping the scoreboard ticking while cameos from Manvendra Mishra (20 off 9) and Dhruvit Shah (26* off 17) at the middle order ensured a smooth finish in 18.5 overs.

DDPL XI Strikers won the match by 5 wkts, Ojas Mehta declared Player of the Match and Vishal Miglani declared Team Player of the Match.

Played at MCA BKC Ground in Mumbai, DY Patil Group ‘A’ after being put to bat first posted a total of 254/10 in 65.5 overs. Opener Tanmay Mishra top scored with 57 runs while Kushal Kakkad and Manish Rao were the pick of the lot amongst bowlers with 3 wkts each.

Central Railway Sports Association in reply scored 295/10 in 76 overs courtesy their opener Pravin Deshetti giving a solid start smashing 81 runs off 124 balls smashing 10 fours and 2 sixes while Aman Khan bagging 4wtks for 59 runs. Amit Panikar at no.4 scored 42 runs while it was 8th wicket stand with Vidyadhar Kamath which helped Central Railway win the match on 1st innings lead. Coming at no.8, Vidyadhar scored 48 runs off 112 balls while also stitched a crucial 80 run partnership with Pravin to help their team take 1st innings lead.

Lalchand Rajput XI opting to bat first at SRT, MCA posted a total of 350/10 in 90.1 overs. After a decent start by the openers Bhupen (34) and Sahil (34), it was Suved Parkar at no.3 who turned things around with a massive knock of 193 runs in 228 balls. Suved smashed 32 fours and 2 sixes and once again showed his appetite to score big under crunch situations. Varun Joijode at no.8 also played a handy cameo scoring 48 runs off 129 balls.

Chandrakant Pandit XI in reply were all out for 349 runs resulting in a dramatic 1 run win for Lalchand Rajput XI. Harshal Jadhav (67 runs), Pragnesh Kanpillewar (59 runs) & Yashraj Malap (55 runs) registered half centuries. From the bowlers, Varun Joijode was the star performer taking 6/79 in 29 overs with 6 maidens.

Lalchand Rajput XI in the 2nd innings scored 264/5 in 58 overs before the end of the game’s play where they won the match on 1st innings lead of 1 run and a 2nd innings lead of 265 runs. Opener Bhupen Lalwani scored an unbeaten 125* off 190 balls smashing 16 fours and 3 sixes while the rest of the batters batted around him in the 2nd innings.

Lalchand Rajput XI won the finals and got the trophy from hands of Chandrakant Pandit and Amol Muzumdar who were the chief guests along with Shahalam Shaikh, Secretary of MCA and other members.

Spottlightt Social Scorchers opting to bat first at Somaiya Cricket Ground could not muster a big total on board 118/6 in 20 overs. No.3 Batsman Abhishek Jhaveri was the lone warrior smashing 53 runs off 48 balls. The rest of the batters found it difficult to get going as Hemant Tools Tornadoes bowlers did an impressive job of sticking to tight lengths. From the bowlers, Rahul Arora was the pick of the lot taking 2/15 in 3 overs.

Hemant Tools Tornadoes in reply chased down the score in 15.1 overs winning the Gold Finals by 7 wkts. Openers Preet Singh (24 runs) and Captain Vivek Zaveri (31 runs) gave a 79 run opening stand while Nilesh Samant played the finishers role smashing an unbeaten 30* off 18 balls.

Played at Somaiya Cricket Ground in Mumbai, Marshalls Royals opting to bat first posted a total of 143/10 in 18.2 overs.  None of their batters could convert their starts into substantial scores with Jitin Manji (32 runs) & Aazaz Khan (33 runs) at the middle order being the top scorers. From the bowlers, Manvendra Mishra with 3/18 in 3 overs was the pick of the lot while Skipper Piyush Patel also bowled an economical spell conceding 28 runs in 4 overs alongwith 1 wicket.

DDPL XI Strikers in reply chased down the score in 18.1 overs winning the match comfortably by 5 wkts. Skipper Piyush Patel opening the innings scored 29 runs but DDPL did lost some quick top order wickets until in form Ojas Mehta stepped in to once again turnaround the game for DDPL. Ojas came at no.5 scoring 54* off 43 balls while he got good support from Aneesh at no.6 who scored 28 off 24 balls.

Macleods Pharmaceuticals Ltd opting to bat first at Navroz CC, Azad Maidan posted a massive total of 351/5 in 40 overs. Opener Amar Narkar displayed amazing batsmanship as he registered the highest individual score of MCA Corporate Trophy smashing a stunning 211 runs off 129 balls. Aman went all guns blazing smashing 27 fours and 5 sixes. Pranay Patil at no.5 also scored 56 runs off 71 balls.

In reply, Thane Municipal Corporation were all out for 138 runs courtesy tight bowling by Macleods bowlers. Rohan Sawant, Pritam More, Jayraj Thakur and Vaibhav Nagvankar bagged 2 wkts each as Macleods Pharma won the match by 213 runs.
