On April 12, WNS Global Services PL – B Team took on JSW Steel Ltd. during the semi-final of ‘F’ Division MCA Corporate Trophy tournament. WNS won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Batting first, JSW were bowled out for a paltry 117 in 26.4 overs, thanks to a brilliant bowling performance by WNS. Rahul Kirodian, who opened the bowling for WNS, wreaked havoc with the ball as he scalped 4-36 in 7.4 overs. The right arm speedster rattled the opposition and received good support from Shivprakash Jaiswal who chipped in with 3-15 in six overs. On the other hand, Yash Kripal top scored for JSW with 29 runs off 48 balls. 

In reply, WNS made lightwork of the chase as they completed the formalities in 33.5 overs, winning the match by eight wickets. The opening pair of Anurag Yadav (46 runs off 78 runs) and Kshitij Kanade stitched a scintillating 88-run partnership. Kanade mustered an unbeaten 50 off 96 balls to lead the run chase. On the other hand, JSW had an ordinary outing with the ball. Rajesh Pingulkar and Yash Kripal were the only wicket-takers. They struck with one scalp each.

Rahul Kirodian and Kshitij Kanade were the top performers of the match. The duo powered WNS to the ‘F’ Division MCA Corporate Trophy final by beating JSW.

On April 12, Aruprit Tigers took on Kokilaben D. Ambani Hospital during the semi-final of ‘F’ Division MCA Corporate Trophy tournament. Kokilaben D. Ambani Hospital won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Riding on twin half-centuries from Vicky Patil (91 runs off 93 balls) and Tushar Chate (62 runs off 27 balls), Aruprit Tigers posted a fighting score of 6-270 in 40 overs. Patil, who opened the batting, shouldered the batting responsibility and played some good looking shots during his innings. Siddhesh Gavande was the other contributor, who chipped in with 45 runs off 35 balls. On the other hand, Hitesh Vighave was the pick of the bowlers for Kokilaben D. Ambani Hospital as he struck with 3-59 in eight overs.

In reply, Kokilaben D. Ambani Hospital could not put up a strong fight as they scored just 9-120 in 25.4 overs., losing the match by 150 runs. While the Kokilaben D. Ambani Hospital’s batting looked listless, Aruprit Tigers’ bowling led by Simaant Dubey had a great outing. Dubey wreaked havoc with the ball as he scalped 3-11 in six overs. Aruprit Tigers fielded well too, thanks to Patil, who grabbed five important catches behind the stumps.  

Vicky Patil was the top performer of the match. Patil powered Aruprit Tigers to the ‘F’ Division MCA Corporate Trophy final by beating Kokilaben D. Ambani Hospital.

 

 
 

On April 11, Siddharth College of Commerce and Economics locked horns against R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics at Trombay during the Red Bull Campus Tournament. R.A. Poda College  won the toss and elected to bat first.

R.A. Podar College piled up 8-152 in 20 overs. Middle order batter Rishi top scored with an unbeaten 44 off as many balls to power his side to a competitive score. Opening batter Sumeir was the other top contributor with the bat as he belted 36 runs off just 14 balls. On the other hand, Bhupesh and Ajit from Siddharth College were clinical with the ball as the duo bagged two wickets each.

In reply, Siddharth College chased down the total in 19 overs to win the match by six wickets. Jay Kikani, who came in at number three starred with the bat and led the run chase from the front. Kikani muscled 68 runs off 50 balls, including half a dozen boundaries and three sixes. On the other hand, the bowlers of R.A. Podar College had an ordinary outing. They failed to restrict Siddharth College to see a defeat in the competition.

Jay Kikani was the top performer of the match. Kikani guided Siddharth College to a six-wicket win over R.A. Podar College during the Red Bull Campus Tournament.

On April 10, Crescent Cricket Club took on Indian Dynamite Cricket Club at Matunga Gymkhana during the Kanga League Knockout Tournament. Indian Dynamite Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first.

Indian Dynamite Cricket Club scored 254 in 41.2 overs. Prathamesh Nagotkar top scored with 46 runs off 33 balls. The left handed lower middle order batter belted three boundaries and four sixes. Nitesh Shinde (44 runs off 30 balls) and Shariq Sayed (37 runs off 46 balls) were the other top contributors with the bat. On the other hand, Prathamesh Lodh and Prathamesh Hanjankar picked up two wickets each.

In reply, Crescent Cricket Club chased down the target in just 31.1 overs. Riding on Ritesh Punyarthi’s delectable century, Crescent Cricket Club completed the formalities. Punyarthi plundered a blistering 114 off 77 balls. His innings was embellished with 17 boundaries and four sixes. Samkit Shah too made a useful 51 to steer Crescent Cricket Club to a comfortable win. On the other hand, Indian Dynamite Cricket Club’s, Avinash Pale was the pick of the bowlers. Pale scalped 3-45 in eight overs, opening the bowling.

Ritesh Punyarthi was the top performer of the match. He powered Crescent Cricket Club to a four-wicket win over Indian Dynamite Cricket Club during the Kanga League Knockout Tournament.

On April 9, Future General locked horns against Piramal at Azad Maidan in Mumbai during the Chanawala T20 Tournament. Future General won the toss and elected to bat first.

Riding on opening batter Bhuvan Patil’s delectable 51 off 35 balls, Future General posted a competitive score of 8-169 in 20 overs. Wicket-keeper batter Prashant Khanolkar also made a useful contribution of 48 runs from 38 balls, batting at number three. On the other hand, for Piramal, Rahul Kulkarni was the pick of the bowlers. The left arm spinner scalped 4-21 in four overs.

In reply, Piramal fought hard as they scored 7-159 in 20 overs, as they fell shy of just 10 runs. Girish Rasivate (43 runs off 26 balls) and Gaurang Patel (32 runs off 31 balls) were the top performers with the bat. On the other hand, for Future General, Vivek Yadav wreaked havoc with the ball.  The right arm speedster bagged 4-21 in four overs to rattle the opposition.

A & B Division

Played at Parsee Gymkhana in Mumbai, Dadar Union Sporting Club opting to bat first posted a handsome total of 232/6 in 20 overs. The openers gave a flying start to the innings with opener Sagar Chabbria top scoring in the match with a brilliant hundred. Sagar counter attacked the bowlers from the word ‘go’ as he went on to score a swashbuckling 106 off 60 balls, a knock which included 12 fours and 5 sixes.

Young Comrade CC in reply could manage a total of 182/7 in 20 overs with opener Shreeraj Gharat top scoring with 63 runs off 61 balls. Dadar Union bowlers delivered well in the finals with spinner Siddhant Singh being the pick of the lot taking 3/31 in 4 overs. Quickster Yashraj Malap also bagged 2 wkts as Dadar Union SC won the finals by 50 runs.

Automotive Solutions at MB Union, Cross Maidan witnessed the magnificent bowling performance
of Rushi Lokhande of the Aruprit Tigers team who took 5 wickets in 5 overs giving away a meagre of
27 runs helping his team to acquire the winning position!

The winning team had won the toss and elected to bat giving a huge total of 253 runs in 40 overs at the loss of only 6 wickets wherein the top scorers were Vicky Patil who score 74 runs in 93 balls and the captain itself- Siddheshwar Gavande who scored 92 runs in 73 balls with the aid of 4 fours and 6 sixes! Mumbai: The Catholic Gymkhana batted steadily and managed to snatch a tense and thrilling one-wicket win against Park Cricket Club in Group-D section match of the MCA Dr. H.D. Kanga knockout cricket tournament 2022, and played at the RTO ground, Azad Maidan.

Park CC preferring to bat first scored 189 runs for 9 wickets in 42 overs. Half century efforts from Meet Mayekar 64 runs and Arjun Lotlikar 56 runs propped the Park CC innings while Catholic Gym’s bowler Narendra Vishwakarma took 4 for 40 to restrict the opponents. In reply, Catholic Gymkhana batters put together small useful partnerships which helped them to pull off a narrow win and advance to the next round. Deepak Tolani was the top-scorer with 43 runs, while Prathamesh Mhatre picked up 4 wickets for 31 runs.

In another match, Mulund Challengers batting first were bowled out for 125 runs in 40 overs and in response Vile Parle SC reached 126 for 2 wickets in just 19.4 overs to clinch an 8-wicket victory.

In other matches, Worli CC dominated their game against Palanpur CC and charged to 134 runs win and Friends CC defeated Kridarang CC by 8 wickets.

Mumbai: The impressive all-round showing by Saniya Raut who claimed 2 wickets for 27 runs and then scored a sparkling unbeaten 64 runs powered Team Pink to a comfortable 6-wicket victory against Team Yellow in a second round Group-B match of the Women’s T20 Cricket Tournament 2021-2022, organised by Victory Cricket Club in association with Pulse Sports Events Entertainment and Eagle Thane Strikers, and played at the Parsee Gymkhana ground.

Sent in to bat first Team Yellow riding on Vrushali Bhagat’s unbeaten knock of 74 runs and Sanika Chalke’s decent innings of 35 runs scored 137 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs. In response, Team Pink bolstered by Saniya match-winning innings scored 138 runs for 4 wickets in 18.5 overs to complete their second successive win. Diksha Pawar 2 for 23 runs was Team Yellow’s successful bowler.

Team Purple and Team Red also registered their second successive wins in Group-A matches. At the Islam Gymkhana ground, Team Purple defeated Team Green by 5 wickets and later Team Red scored a thumping 10-wicket win against Team Maroon.

Challenger Trophy organized by Sandeep Dahad Foundation

Played at Central Maidan in Thane, Pravin Tambe Cricket Academy opting to bat first were cleaned up for a modest total of 49 runs in 12.5 overs.  Indiana bowlers delivered in the finals especially youngster Aarush Iyer who bowled a brilliant spell for his team. Off-Spinner Aarush took 4/8 in 3.5 overs including 2 maidens to take his team into a commanding position.

In reply, Indiana Cricket Clinic chased down the total in just 6.1 overs winning the finals by 9 wkts in a dominating fashion. Aarush Iyer who took 7wkts overall in the tournament including a 4-fer in the finals was declared man of the match. Aarush received it from the hands of Former Mumbai Ranji Coach Sulakshan Kulkarni.
